I keep seeing people saying predictions for Kelly and the off season and such. Kelly would have to get blown out the rest of the year for him to lose his job. I don't see them winning many games down the stretch, honestly after these past few weeks they could lose out, but they wont be blown out the rest of the year. Kelly could lose out and would probably keep his job for one more year. (I dont think they will lose out) But what will happen is instead of Kelly going, he is going to send a few assistants packing and bring in some different names. Hopefully the Dline gets a new one cause its abysmal. They havent recruited well there since Lynch, Tuitt and Nix all in same recruiting year I believe. Since then, disaster. Pretty sure I heard one announcer say that Rochelle will play on Sundays and I could not see that being true unless he was meaning CFL. This got off topic. Kelly wont be gone next year. Too many young players on field, he just signed extension, we just fired D cord we wont fire head coach also. Multiple assistants will be fired, the team will have lots of returning starters and next year we will all be optimistic again. If Kelly shits bed next year he's done.

Likewise, considering that Kelly is coming off a 10-3 season (2015) I will be surprised if he is fired after this season.

Good point that although ND has way too many loses - at least thus far they have all been by 7 points or less.

However - with the way this season has gone, I think the clock is now ticking on his career at ND. And, considering that his career at ND at least appears to be is on shaky ground, he may have a real challenge in possibly making good coaching hires.

Looks like Kelly's philosophy of recruiting his RKG type of player combined with hiring his 'cronies' (coaches he personally knows or has previously worked with) is beginning to catch up with him!

aside from 2012: how productive do you consider the Tuitt, Lynch, Nix trio?
then consider I. Willuams?

as 4 year grades, (you recruit for the idea you get 4 yrs out of the scholarship offer) so, the most high profile ND defensive lineman where at best 'meh'
and
as we have seen, there were no successors!

Kelly won't get fired this season....next season will bring some parameters into play and strings that are attached that he probably won't like and isn't accustomed to however....And that scenario might motivate him to move on after this season...should that opportunity present itself.

There has to be clearly defined expectations laid out after this season...something Kelly might or might not buy into...but I am very confident that they will be introduced by Jack Swarbrick. He is going to do his job.

I doubt Jack even has a 'tough' discussion with Kelly.
Unless the Alums scream aggressively and the $ sources are affected: biz as usual!
'get used to it' ; this is a new era of ND football.

He'll get one more season and that's it. Honestly we can't start a trend of being a revolving door for college coaches we will never be able to build a steady program. BK upsets me just as much as any other Irish Fan here but from top to bottom he's been pretty solid as a head coach. The landscape of college football has changed they're so many more teams that are above average now as in past years. An this schedule just based off what other teams we played are doing has been really difficult. Don't pay attention to pre season ranking bc that's used to sell magazines and mean absolutely nothing.

I believe this is correct. On Sunday's XMSR college football show, Lou Holtz dismissed the idea out of hand that BK would be let go. He essentially said it won't happen and it absolutely should not happen.

All of you sound like rational humans aside from the many others on these boards that expect crazy outcomes. I personally am starting to waver on Kelly and I have always liked him. He is eloquently versed, which is important, considering im also a husker fan and having to listen Bo's postgame was shit. He does run program well, but the way the team is playing does look like he his starting to lose a few players. And some of the play calling I am starting to question. Of course what would I know, but some things seem like common sense and I think he over thinks things on offense a lot. The D is just an entire other conversation that needs a complete overhaul. Glad he'll have another year. I agree, I dont like the revolving door effect that we have had in the past. If these young guys come into their own on the tail of this season and come back strong next season I wont be amazed. We all were ready for that a few years back or just last year when we looked at how many returners we had coming back and what happened we got bumped from playoffs on last second plays by less than 3 pts, sooo.... proof is there that Kelly can succeed when he has players developed.
