I know Kelly will be back in 2017 but if we lose to Army and get smashed vs Virginia Tech and USC.
All bets are off.

Three Candidates:
ND should not be looking past three people. It's a top paying job-
there is talent on the roster. Staff members get paid well.

The coaching has been brutal every week this year. We could have won every game this year.

1) Chris Petersen

2) Pat Fitzgerald

3) Kyle Wittingham

Pat Fitzgerald loathes ND. That's pretty much common knowledge to anyone who follows college football closely.

This isn't true at all. Fitzgerald was a huge ND fan growing up and desperately wanted a scholarship and didn't get one. I'm sure he got his feelings hurt but it's an exaggeration to say he hates ND.

Peterson will not leave Washington
Fitzgerald is a "legend" at Northwestern, he will retire from there
I doubt Wittingham leaves.

IF -- and that is a BIG IF right now, if the ND position becomes open, they need to think outside the box. But most importantly, it all depends on what direction the school wants to go with the football program as a whole.

This season has been a disaster, but the worse part for me has been witnessing one bad coaching decision after another and believing that the cumulation of same won't change who the coach is next season. It's akin to the Trump dilemma for me: I didn't want Trump or Hillary as our President, but now that a decision has been reached, I want Trump to succeed for all our sakes. At seasons end, assuming Jack sticks with his decision to keep Kelly, then my thoughts will quickly turn to what Kelly needs to change to be successful. Hiring a great DC and giving Sanford the opportunity to really run the offense would be a good start.

The only one of those three I think might be a good fit is Fitzgerald. He wouldn't be a bad candidate to consider.

As for the other two, both have spent their whole careers out West, and one's a Scientologist and the other's a Mormon. So not sure they'd be great fits at ND, or that they'd even be interested in the job.

Except he hates ND, so he probably would not do well at ND.

No, whether you want to believe it or not, he does still hate ND. Just perform a Google search.

You have zero knowledge if you list CP #1. He just signed a 10-year extension with Washington. He has a potential Heisman winner coming back in 2017/2018 and he has that team rolling. He already turned down his hometown USC. Why would he come to South Bend?

PJ Fleck or Paul Chryst with Barry Alvarez as AD. People have to be realistic.

I can't believe fans on this board no longer think they can get Bill Belichick to leave New England & come here!

It has that feel to it that you like to repeat yourself constantly in here. Tell me why?

There's no use in explaining it to you because it would be way over your head. You are way too young to understand the ways of the real world.

Why not Petrino? People don't give a shit about character these days. And Petrino actually knows how to coach.

Have always liked Narduzzi. MSU DC for years. Great defense under his direction. 50 years old. Dad coached Youngstown State. Pat graduated from there. Ohio guy. Great recruiter. Would be a wonderful fit. Smart enough to hire an OC who believes in a pro style offense. Would LOVE Narduzzi. Impressed with the way he handled his kicker earlier in the game. No wonder MSU's defensive players loved him. Very impressive.

Not exactly the best defense you've ever seen.

Miami lit them up for 51. Oklahoma St. 45. Clemson had 630 yards of offense today. If they had not turned the ball over three times they would have won.

Next coach at ND will be a special teams and top notch D Coord.

BK is here 4 more.

hometown usc ? he grew up more like 10 hours north of los angeles. and he has been a northwest guy ever since except for one yr in Pittsburgh. petersen doesn't like the glitz and glamour of LA, but he did consider the sc job. but he and haden did not get along.
