1) I want a power running scheme
2) I want a bend but down break defense
3) I want a hard ass coach who believes in being more physical than his opponents and not trying to out scheme them.
4) I want a coach who doesn't hire his buddies.
5) I want a coach who hires a staff where every coach is a good recruiter
6) I want a coach who will fire underperforming coaches immediately like Booker, BVG
7) I want a coach who believes in and has tremendous special teams like Holtz/ Meyer.
8) I want a coach that will pressure the school to let kids in that he needs to win.
Who are you and when are you getting here? It's been since 1993.

Wait, so you essentially want Alabama leave Tuscaloosa and transplant itself in South Bend?

You're 100% right, but it's never going to happen. ND does not care enough about winning football to compromise it's academic standards to the degree it would take to get some of the players. It also won't bend it's policies on discipline.

You might as well add open the vault too ....

You won't get any of the above at

1.2 million salary.

Frankly that's extremely embarrassing

Oh yes...the excuses. I knew it would only take a second or two.

Call them excuses all you want. The kids that cannot even write a simple essay and don't belong in a University setting, but who dominate the rosters of the schools in the South that have been winning nearly every national championship in the past 15 years, are not coming to Notre Dame... They are going to football factories, where they can play for what amounts to a semi pro football program, where they can eat, sleep and breathe football, before going to the NFL.

Greg Schiano could build a defense at ND just as he has done at Ohst. He has prior head coaching experience and can recruit.

You saw this coach yesterday at the Western Michigan - Acron game. It was on TV. P. J. Fleck. Crosses all your boxes.

There are a few things posted here that I'm not sure are accurate.

First, I think the notion that have been the main reason we have lost to; Texas, NCSU, Duke, ASU, Northwestern, etc. is because of academic restrictions is not correct. We have more than enough talent to beat many of the teams we have lost to over the last 7 years. Certainly we will never win a NC or compete for one annually given our administrations refusal to change but we absolutely can win 10 games a year.

Second, I'm not sure where people come up with Kellys salary. As a private institution ND does not have to release coaches salaries and over the years they have been very guarded about that. I'm not saying he's the highest paid but I'm very certain he is not 68th. Same goes for assistant coaches.

5,11,13,15 are your recruiting rankings the last 4 years! You can't seriously blame that your academic standards are holding you back from getting "elite" talent! You can't blame the school for not paying enough when you got the coach that you wanted!

yep ^^^^^^^^

gonna have to take a chance with Sanford or another '3*' today, but is '5*' in the making

the trouble is ND can make a 5* into a 2* not the other way around!

Totally agree here.

I am an Iowa Hawkeye alum and supporter and Iowa would give their left you-know-what to have their last 4 recruiting classes rank in the top 15 nationally. Heck, Iowa struggles to even finish in the top 10 in recruiting each year in the B1G conference.

From afar seems to me that the highly regarded recruits at ND just aren't developing at the level while in college that kids do overall at other schools.

FYI, when Fleck took over a underwhelming program, the first thing he did was undo all of the scholarship offers made by the previous coach from his current/last recruiting class. That took courage. He blew the whole thing up. That's what is needed.

you can bet that the Western Michigan bought into that intention before they hired him....they wanted what he could bring and gave him the support he needed. Notre Dame must to the same. They gave BK what he wanted for the most part...he has not delivered on his end.
