The 2pt. try at the end of the game was a good call as well. Kelly wanted the OL to man up and create a push for Kiser to run it in. Clemson D up and stopped it. Why would Kelly want to put the ball in the air for a WR to drop it? Kizer was having a great game running the ball.

822 I sure do! I played QB and know the game and what the flow of a game feels like. I wouldn't change a damn thing. The WR's killed us tonight with drops and fumbles. I bet you haven't played a down of football in your life.
Kizer was excellent the entire 4th quarter throwing the ball and the WR's came up with some big catches. The OL was terrible all night so when the game was on the line Kelly expected the OL to come up big?? Terrible decision.
I agree with you Houston.. I undoubtedly question a few play calls but the PLAYERS failed to win the game.. Mistakes on the field. Bottom line
They should have took the extra point. Cause they did the same thing later any way. Seeing how shaky the freshmen kicker has been, and the fact you were playing hurricane. I dont think going for a field goal would be in your best interest anyway. Kelly started the game a little to conservative anyway. 822, draw me up a play COACH? The ball was wet, the field was wet, the play call wasn't a bad call. Of course everyone will play the armchair QB role and say it was a bad call because it didn't work. I told my brother before the last drive started if we score Kizer is going to keep it on the 2 pt. try. Correct call bottom line.
I will say this... I think Kelly made some bad play calls in the second half, especially going for 2 instead of the extra pt. on the first TD. However I find it funny that people like the OP choose not to understand that he also coached these kids back in the second half instead of letting them give up, actually I say that for all the coaches. This started after the first game when people were saying BVG should be fired and what has he done this year, coached well with an average pass rush and average at best secondary.
Kelly wasn't on the field for all the holding calls or false starts. Kelly did not miss a wife open receiver for a TD on the Robinson play. Kelly didn't give up 4 turn overs.

Caramel it's amazing the idiocy on this board with some posters. Kelly is the BEST coach at ND since Lou Holtz roamed the sidelines. This team is very talented and didn't execute tonight early in this game. To win a game like this you have to be ready to play 4 quarters of football and not 2. Fuller, Robinson, Hunter and Brown all had major drops tonight that cost ND the game. The opening fumble to start the second half by Sanders was bad and was just to much to overcome on the road. This was a tough loss and the IRISH should bounce back next week against a tough Navy team. This team has themselves to blame for losing this game tonight.

NdinHouston I agree. Let's not forget they were playing in crazy conditions. The fact they came back and had a chance to win despite all the turnovers and penalties speaks remarkably about Kelly.

I'm not gonna disagree that the WR were bad tonight, they were. Too many drops when it mattered. Kelly called a terrible game though. How many times was he gonna roll Kizer to his left and expect the kid to make a completion under pressure? There are pro QB's that struggle doing that. Bottom line is....with the shit 1st half, turnover and all the drops ND was in a position to win this game or at least take it to OT and Kelly screwed up. NO reason what so ever to go for 2 after the first TD.NONE. They ended up chasing that point the whole quarter and it cost them, You extend the game as long as possible.

I agree the decision for 2 was stupid. That's not the reason we lost though. Will fuller was nonexistent. I keep thinking he can't catch unless it's over the shoulder. He needs to fix that. Despite all the player errors Kelly had us in the game at the end. This is on the players. Yes there were head scratchers but the players lost this game.

How many balls did Kizer sail 4 yards over the player? I'm not killing anybody btw. There were tons of plays that were missed by the players though. Enough that we would have won. The D kept us in the game. Turnovers, dropped passes, penalties killed us.

Yes the pass was high. Kizer was throwing balls high all night. Not sure why usually he throws it in the dirt. Either way he needs to figure it out.

Sure the pass was high, however as a WR they are told if the ball touches your hands the ball is CATCHABLE. I wish more people on this board understood football and played more than pee-wee football.
