I never would have thought I would be relieved that ND beat Syracuse. I mean, there was a time when a game against a team like Syracuse wouldn't even have drawn my attention. I could devote the day to the wife and kids with the knowledge I could sit down in the evening and watch a sure blow out. Texas losing again, Duke losing. ND is really down there with the dregs of college football. Michigan looks so good on defense. UW is back to being a power on defense.

It's become the norm for ND football. What's sad is so many on here don't seem to care one bit and continue to make excuses for the guy. Will probably hear that he's turned the team around with a win over NC State.

well consider the potential losses to the draft at seasons end. The QB and at least 2 OL
a starting DT, a starting DE, and then that is compounded by 2+ incomplete recruiting classes.
and add to that that the 17&18 schedules look very tough.
Kelly may have his agent look for a more favorable situation and if found, run for the door.
(of course we will not miss his board 'monitors').
A new Head Coach will have a rough going trying to patch holes in the roster.
That is why Sanford as the hire/promotion is a wise choice, to create a seemless transition.
Clearly Kelly will not get ND to a major bowl for this year, and not likely for 17-18; that would be a 9 year run w/o a major nationally significant post season W. I think that prospect will influence Kelly to look for a job at this seasons end.

Perse. It has been since The 1994 Cotton Bowl that ND has had a Major Bowl win. 22 seasons. 2 plus decades. I have 3 children. 2 of them have NEVER seen ND win a major Bowl. The other can't remember it, she was too young. This IS ND football to them. Good God.
