major QB issues for Georgia. Beck will be out and Gunner is not very good.
I like the Georgia run game so I believe they can move the ball.

ND will run for over 200

From your mouth to God's ears....

I think one of the unheralded developments is that Georgia's punter, who was one of those guys who could pin opponents deep in their own territory and flip the field regularly, is out for the year.

That said, I still think Georgia has an excellent defense, and I fear that our defense no longer has enough bodies left to stand up to another physical team.

Their QB is the key to winning or losing that is why golden should put eight in the box or blitz on every other down. Knock Gunner around just to see if he gets rattled early on . Our defense will keep ND in the game and might even get a TO. Those little bubble screens are extremely effective some what an Oregon offense, which will wear down their defense. ND has come close to beaten Georgia twice once at their place

Georgia fans are fairly dismissive about Notre Dame...they claim ND is slow and small; and can't match up with them. Notre Dame has to prove itself, that it belongs. Georgia doesn't have to do that. I'd say the pressure is on the Irish...due to the infrequency of opportunities to play for a championship. For Georgia....its just a matter of renewing its subscription.

I sure hope that ND doesn’t give up 17 points to a backup qb that has hardly played
But that's the point.

A backup only takes so many snaps with the first team until the starting QB gets hurt. Now he's "The guy" and therefore is getting a LOT more reps. He won't be as effective as Beck but don't count him out, either. They can scale down the passing game for him and trust me, they've got a really good coaching staff top to bottom.

They'll have the kid prepared and it will be a dog fight (no pun intended).

On paper so far I say 55:45 % chance for Georgia:ND. But I think I will am heading towards 50:50. The more I think about it, the more I think the ND D will win, supported just enough by an O that will get enough points in a lower scoring game.

I think this Irish team can punch in the face and get punched in the face...and remain standing.

He wouldn't be that back up quarterback at Georgia if he wasn't good. They rift out back ups that start elsewhere at good programs. I don't buy the quarterback issue.

I wish I had your optimism. Until we can actually win a game against a team like Georgia, I have a hard time seeing us winning.

Now. I don't feel this is one of those Georgia teams like we've seen in the past and they're obviously beatable. I kind of think we match up well against them. If the game is a low scoring affair, I give my node to us pulling it out, but we can't let them jump up by double digits early.

This is a game ND would win 2 times out of 10 against Georgia, maybe 3. It has to be this game. Teams like OSU and ND are the only thing standing in the way of a complete monopoly.

I think we're seeing an inflection point. The SEC monopoly is over. NIL and transfers means their under the table stuff doesn't facilitate stacking and monopoly.

Ohio State seems to be the emerging winner in this never ending evolutionary arms race.

But let's see how this plays out...lots of playoffs left.

OSU is definitely sitting pretty at the moment. I have to wonder if this monopoly/arms race is simply going to shift to other programs and it'll be the same old, same old.

I don't know, but it almost seems like that shift is happening already. Texas, Oregon and OSU have a ton of money invested in NIL already and the results of this playoff bracket are showing that. Texas and Oregon in particular just seemed to come out of nowhere this year. I fear that CFB is headed towards an MLB situation where they buy their way to the post season every year. Time will tell. I'll be interested to see how Texas and Oregon, in particular do as we move forward in the coming years. OSU is somewhat unique I think in that they have always had a very solid program.

I think ND should win but the depleted D might finally show up and if/when UGA loads the box and stops the run- can RL make enough throws to keep them honest? Just imagine if Bothela, Boubacore, KVA, Morrison were healthy- I’d like our odds to win it.

Texas did play in the semifinal game last year. And Oregon came within a late FG of being in the playoff. I think we can beat Georgia but we need our A game.

I don't think they will. I'm pretty sure it will be a shutout. If we break their back by the 2nd quarter, it could be a pretty big margin. 38 or 45 zero. Otherwise, I would 24, 28, 31 zero. That rookie QB is not scoring on this defense. Maybe they get a scoop and score or something on defense. Carson Beck is another story, he could easily light it up for 50 or 60 on us. But the new guy won't do anything. I'm sure they'll get a few first downs, but that's about as much as I'm willing to concede. Maybe 100 yards total offense?

I'm not a prognosticator, but I believe the Irish will win this game. The injured defensive players have a few extra days to get well. more days than usual

All joking aside, it's good for ND that Carson Beck is out indefinitely. The new guy didn't look too hot, don't really know what he's going to do, but one would have to consider it a step down for UGA, even though it's really there defense that has gotten them this far this season.

Upshot being, they're right for an upset.

plus you add in ND doesn't have film on the backup. So he's a wild card. With Beck there's a a lot of film to look at and find a weakness.

Plus, how healthy are Cross, Mills and Young?

How does ND win if one or more of them is SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN 100%?

That's my RECURRING QUESTION.

It's SIMPLE MATH, really.
