ND vs FSU game thread

Great win. It was a strong performance overall on offense and defense, but especially on defense. Go Irish!!

You think ESPN will sign off as soon as possible or will they interview the coach? NBC is pathetic. Please dump these guys. We should sign with ESPN. He’ll, TBS would be better
CW. They have great broadcasts actually

I think Cross is one of the most overrated players in the country. Guy is mid AF to me but fans act like he's warren sapp or something.

Haven’t seen anyone acting like he’s Warren Sapp, but you do you. Golden/Freeman seem to agree he’s a starter on a Top10 defense, but yeah, he sucks because you think so.

ND threw it on 3rd down and 4 earlier and now it’s 2nd and goal from the 7. So is ND supposed to run, get stuffed, and then throw? Or just run it again on 3rd? ND isn’t allowed to practice?

4 plus minutes remaining. Not 1.

What a little twerp. Pansy. Doubt he’s saying that if this was PSU vs FSU.
I honestly don't know why you get so hot and bothered over what an announcer says. There was a time when if you did pass with a 5 TD lead late in the game, it was considered running up the score. Personally, I don't mind Blackledge. He sounds like a nice guy. Maybe he should have been more aware that ND apparently needs to win big to impress the committee, but I don't think there is anything wrong with pointing out that the losing team has obviously had enough and it's time to stop throwing punches. Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with letting your second team run the full offense late in the game, but I do think it's wise to show a little mercy. Holtz learned that the hard way in 1993 after he embarrassed Coughlin's BC team in 1992.

I don’t call anyone on this forum an idiot. I save that for the announcers 😀. They should know better. I don’t like him opening his mouth and making ND looking bad. There was still 4+ and 5+ minutes remaining when ND threw it. They’re also getting Angeli a little work and a couple walk ons some fun in addition to Colzie.

ND probably wasn’t going to kick a FG there. So they should try to score, because if you don’t, FSU might make it a 38-10 game which has a different ring to it than 45-3.

I agree on showing some mercy, but not at four minutes and goal to go where you either score or get stopped and the game doesn’t end. I actually thought Freeman throwing the ball at the end of the Stanford game was debatable so I’m not completely about scoring as much as you can. Even in that game, there was still two minutes.

At 2 minutes, a coach should probably run the ball to end it if they can. A kneel down on the last play if you’re within scoring distance or probably just in general.

I also doubt Blackledge would say anything it was PSU because it’s his team, which makes him a probable hypocrite. And I might have been mixing him up with another announcer and been a little harsh. I just can’t stand announcers sometimes and let loose when I’m normally more reserved.

Always nice to hear from Mrs. Angelli.
It's fact, Riley Leonard is not a very accurate passer beyond 10 yards. Great win yesterday, offense was balanced. Defense is championship level. Looking forward to what this team can do in the playoffs.

Offense in week 10 is still so average w/ no real threat of a passing game. Just not going to happen. The ultimate goal can't be reached w/ RL at QB.
If the defense wasn't so good (especially the pass defense) then I'd probably agree with you. But if ND can run the ball against good teams (they did against TAMU with 5.8 ypc on 34 attempts), and the defense keeps producing elite results vs the pass then ND can hang with almost anybody. And although the passing game has been terrible, the running game has been really good. Will that translate to playoff-level competition? I'm not sure, but FPI & F+ think ND is a solidly in the #5-#10 range of teams in college football.
According to you and F+, Miami should have beaten Georgia Tech 100%, but then they actually played the game. Stats only take you so far. Lots of things happen when they actually play.
I never made a prediction about the Miami vs GT game, but yes according to F+ Miami should have won that game. And im sure even after the loss Miami will still have a better F+ rating than Georgia Tech. This just means that F+ thinks Miami is the better team despite the final score between these teams in a single game.

I know you follow other sports based on previous conversations we've had. Are the Dodgers not the better team than the Yankees after winning this past world series but losing game 4 in the series?

Actually, the Yankees were favored slightly going into that series, because they were thought to have a deeper pitching staff, so your argument is irrelevant. If you watched that series, the Dodgers simply out hustled and out played the Yankees, something stats don't tell you. Statistically, Judge and Ohtani should have had a monster series, but neither played a major positive factor in the series for their respective teams. Again, stats only go so far, lots of other factors actually decide the outcome of the games.

He didn’t play after he bent it
I thought he was 99.

Watching the team march from the Basilica to the stadium, they all look like young kids to me now 🤔. Except the lines; those behemouths look like their in their late 40s.
