I'm done making season predictions and prefer to take it one week at a time. Week 1 vs Temple I have the Irish getting the Win in a close game 31-23!!!

Who do you have?

I too will not predict anything. I will watch the games and take one game at a time !

ND 38 - 10

Temple is depleted - new QB - only 4 starters back on O and not many more on D. Coach Rhule got out at a good time. Cupboard is bare. Irish still have top 15 talent across the board.

A pissed off BK from last year - gets out to an early lead and ND cruise vs. a severly out- manned Owl team.

Blessing,
Hope you are correct ! It would really be great on my nervous system to have a few games where
I can just relax a bit and watch the Irish roll !

A different way to look at this is range of expectations:
  • ND loss - by any amount should be considered catastrophe
  • ND narrow win (single digit points) - not quite catastrophe, but we have seen WAY too many close wins against lower tier teams
  • ND comfortable win (10-20 points) - probably what we should expect in a game like this
  • ND blow out win - (21+ points) - does anyone remember when ND used to do this regularly - top teams impose their will on the competition 90%+ of the time in a game like this
Now I know Temple has improved, but with the talent and resources available, ND should absolutely win by 10+

Irish lead at halftime but the second half turns into a forfeit as the Temple players get themselves wedged in the new tunnel trying to get back on to the field. Replay shows that the players are really jammed tight and game is called.

According to one poster here Temple has averaged 10 win seasons the past couple of years while beating multiple P5 opponents and in a conversation with Brian Driskell was told that Temple is a very good team. Could this turn into a real nail biter with whoever has the ball last wins?

Upon further review Temple has been 10-4 the last 2 seasons with a win over Penn State in 2015.

ND 35, Temple 10

A tight game until the 4th. ND pulls away 35 to 17. Not exactly a blowout. Now the talking heads will focus on NDs shortcomings. This will give Georgia a 8 or 9 point spread in their favor. A perfect set up for the Irish. An underdog at home against a superior SEC opponent. The Irish end up beating Georgia 30 to 20. The Irish now are confident as the season moves ahead. Stay tuned..............

Kelly is an outstanding coaxh. 4-8 knocks out complacency and what was "good enough" becomes unacceptable, every aspect of the operation got put under a microscope and changes were made.

ND will win lots of ball games including playing Geogia, Miami, USC and Stanfords asses off. It is going to be a long hard year for The Sewing Circle / Kelly Haters. Last year they were stroking their...egos, after every loss. This year they will be stroking something else...

Won't predict anything until the 4th quarter.

Still don't trust Kelly after those losses to Tulsa, NW, ...

You don't realize you are part of he circle

Temple 27
ND 26

ND scores with 5 minutes left to go up by 9. Instead of Kicking the extra point, Kelly goes for 2 which is not converted. Temple returns Kelly ordered squib kick on ensuing kickoff for TD, ND fails to score again after multiple delay of game penalties and failed fake FG. Temple kicks game winning FG wth 3 seconds left. Kelly blames new Jumbotron. Claims the bright lights confused him.

Prediction: Downward Spiral watches Big Bang Theory and realizes he once had a life. At 34 he still lives with his mother. Sleeps under his old blankie. Staring at a photo of Brian Kelly and thinking. "Mom said I could be anything I wanted to be."

His blankie has troll prints all over it.

On a beautiful partly cloudy Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium the Irish overwhelmed an offense less Temple Team 57-3. The mighty Irish overwhelmed the helpless owls on the ground, through the air, and on special teams.

Lol. Your life must really suck?
That is all I have to say to you as I put you on ignore. Sniffle. Sniffle.
(You will probably respond not understanding what ignore means)

I like how you try to misdirect people.

YOU said that Bryan & Lou said ND beating Temple was a "forgone conclusion" & I told you they never said that & then told you what they actually said.
But as a FSU fan I can't expect you to comprehend facts.

Shut up loser

I'm going to say 44-17.
Defense has a score.
Special Teams has a solid first game. (Score? Maybe.)
You don't lose games like this when you have two first round NFL guys on the o-line, the best running back of the Kelly era (with great balance behind him) and one of the top four receivers of the kelly era along with tons of receivers to back him up.
And I'm becoming a believer of this d.
Ian Book will play a quarter.

Bold prediction I hope you're right

Real solid analysis. LOL. Becoming a believer of this D? Didn't know they had played a game yet. Another year with wishful thinking from the Kelly carousal Club

ND 38- Temple 13

Wimbush 16-22 278 yards and 3 TD's and 65 yards rushing
Run game goes for 220 and 2 scores
ND moves into the top 25.

I could see some struggles early. First time O coord, QB, new coaches, playbook. A few 3 and outs. Conservative. Play to win not lose. D plays solid. A few trick plays maybe get temple and early 7-0 lead. Irish get inside 5, typical penalties. Come away with 3. 10-10 at half. Early pick puts ND down 17-10. We get our sea legs and Bk takes some risk after the line does not dominate like expected. 31-20 late 4th. Late FG 34-20 with ND drive and score to seal it. No pick 6, Irish 38-17

I'm going to throw a blind dart:

42/35-21 ND win.

Struggle early. Maybe a few 3 and outs or just a FG when we should've punched it in for a TD, but pull away in the 3rd/4th.

How hot will it be for the Temple and Georgia games? It could be a factor early in the season. I wouldnt want to sit in that bowl for a day game if temps are in high 80s or 90s.

Nd wins 35 - 13 as Kelly "calls off the dogs."
We learn what a fundamentally solid defense looks like. Coach Elko gets the game ball.

There weren't many running plays called on Sunday at the scrimmage. I don't think Kelly will ever have a sustained running attack.

Listening to Lou and BD it just seems that Temple is coming in with some experience at the skill positions (primarily WR) but overall they bringing in a lot new starters. I see a similar game/flow to the UT opener in 2015 and the Irish overwhelm them early giving up a late score 38-10. We have too many weapons on O that will translate into a few early long drives easing the burden on the D and allowing them to play to their strengths.

Just bringing a little more info for you ND fans. Not sure where only 4 starters on O comes from? Maybe because Temple under Rhule always rotated a lot of personnel
Offense
QB- New Starter
FB- Nick Sharga- Maybe best FB in CFB
RB- While not a starter last year, Armstead rushed for 919 and 14 TDs last year and average 5.9 yards a carry
TE- New Starter but Temple rotates this position. Yeboah is the pass thread
Line- 3 of 5 #1s lineman started 13+ games last year. New C is on Remington watch list.
WR- Talent all over the field. Bryant, Jennings, Kirkwood all 6-3+ Wright is a game breaker in slot.

Defense-
DLine- Very good interior group with many players rotating. Need to find someone to generate outside rush. Finch, who was hurt most of last year will be looked on for that.
LB- This is the inexperienced unit. Coaching staff said this is an extremely fast group, but they are green.
DB- 2 to possibly 3 NFL players in this group- Safeties Chandler and Randall make up one of the best groups in the country. CB has 1 starter back from last year and a grad transfer in Jones that was an FCS All-American last year and would have been drafted if he had come out.

I expect Temple to try and establish the run early with Armstead and then play action out of that. He is fun to watch.

I'll be making my second trip out for this game. Hoping for good weather! Good Luck!

An easy win: ND 48 - Temple 28. ND shows a potent offense and a worrisome defense.
