Who has Ohio St. played? The best team was probably three loss Penn St. They haven't beaten a ranked team yet. ND has beaten one loss Temple, Navy; three loss Pitt and USC. Their one loss was in a monsoon to the number one team at their place. ND should be third OSU fourth. If they beat MSU and Michigan, then they move back ahead of ND. If ND wins out and OSU losses to Iowa, ND should be ahead of them again.

As for this Oklahoma State talk, please!! They beat an overrated TCU. That is their one quality win. ND has better wins. ND beat Texas by 31. Oklahoma State beat them by 3.

at this time last year it was the same argument. How did that turn out. The committee is aware of that; they did not suddenly get amnesia ND's best opponent on their schedule was a loss. tOSU has not yet lost. And if undefeated tOSU meets undefeated Iowa in a championsip game then what would you say?

there are fans of the other teams too; they might think you are bonkers!

Personally enjoy all the what if scenarios as it does add to the emotional roller coaster of college football. I get the SOS argument and comparing good versus bad wins, etc... Contrary to many here, I am still of the opinion that ND has an uphill fight to make the playoffs. I have been pleasantly surprised by the ranking the committee assigned ND last week, and feel we have been treated more than fairly up to this point. Just hope we get the help we need from other teams to earn a playoff spot with a win over Stanford.

Some ND fans want the SEC out, the Big10 out, the PAC out, and the B12 out!

what the heck would ND be champion of?

eight teams on the ND schedule would be middle of the pack in all of those conferences!
pot calling kettle black!

tOSU is reigning champ and Bama has a cpl in last 5 years! trash talking is based upon what?

The depth in the Big 10 is never good - but really terrible this year. There are just a lot of bad teams. OSU, Michigan, MSU, and Iowa are good - with OSU head and shoulders above. Northwestern, Penn State and Wisconsin have decent records but are not good. Everyone else literally stinks - Indiana, Rutgers, Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota, Maryland and Purdue.

Those teams have zero losses to ND's one loss.

If Bama, Ohio State, Okie State, and Clemson all win out, I think its going to be hard for ND to get in.

I was completely unaware the previous seasons were being accounted for in the playoff committee's vote, might as well take it back old school to the 40s! I agree with the OP, up to this point in the season, ND deserves a higher ranking, just like they are ahead of the undefeated Baylor Bears.

Almost as many as want the ACC out as well (in spite of taking an ACC loss.....LOL).

And Re: "what the heck would ND be champion of?" Answer: The Ivy League. And that would be perfectly alright with some as you say.

^ the good guess is Ok. has a v good chance to beat Baylor and OSU.

my point is if ND is in who the heck do fans want to be in it with? UMass?

ND's last 5 opponents are 36-8...with 4 of those loses to ND. I'll put that schedule up against anybody in the country.

The Big 10 is not very good, but hen looked at fairly I do believe it is better top to bottom than the ACC or the Big 12. Let's see where the season plays out, but there are a lot of loss s left.

Perse, you are so focused on that two point loss at Clemson, you refuse to weigh the rest of ND's schedule vs other teams. Try to take a balanced view.

Iread several writeups today and non ND fans and writers simply do not see it as rosey asthis forum.
They do think ND will go 4th this week; but they put odds generally at about 25% to make it.

Win out, which means beating a top ten Stanford at their place the week after a night game on the east coast. That would have to put ND in great shape to rank anywhere from second to fourth in the final rankings, depending on what happens with other teams
