ND rushing attack

My only nit is going up the gut too much. It took a while for Denbrock to go to the edges and to use QB designed runs. But as usual this season, Denbrock just in time made adjustments...wearing down and killing clock, especially on that textbook last drive.

I criticized Denbrock during the game. But temper this with the fact that although not spectacular, the O wore down Georgia, didn't make mistakes, and complemented a dominant D and special teams that won the game. Georgia is still formidable, SEC champion...hard for me to argue with success, having slept on it now, watching the game again at midnight with my remote for analysis too!

;)

Price and even an injury prone Love did their jobs enough. The whole ND game, all units, was > sum of the parts. Anchored in toughness and grit, thanks to MF x-factor.

This is what it sometimes takes. An x-factor ND hasn't had in decades. Again, hard to argue with success against the 2nd or 3rd best team in the country that is GA.

PS: I'll bring up a tangential devil's advocate opinion...all season I said MI is better than the record suggests. I think I am correct. And that MI offers a blueprint how to perhaps beat Ohio State. Stay tuned.

;)

In summary, sure, the running game probably needs to be better. But it's been good enough in the context of overall game plan. Withstanding it needs improving. Again, cannot say it enough: huge compliment to coach Freeman, staff, and these players for grinding a win...classic ND football.

It's one of the best running games in the country. It's the playoff you're not gonna see the same big numbers in these games. Most teams not likely to even hit their averages. The defenses are too good. It's how it should be in a playoff format.

You probably are right. But what's scary is Ohio State seems to be imposing in all dimensions...although I fancy then ND D can stop them.

1st thing, ND has to beat Penn State. Then that hypothetical against the best offense I've yet seen in college football...as Ohio State seems, making me think of Carroll's Trojans.

I think ND will run better vs Penn State, who I don't believe is as good as Georgia.

Yeah, if Ohio St doesn't turn the ball over they are going to be very difficult to beat. That said at this point you just line up and have at it. Regardless what happens going forward this season has been very enjoyable and the future is extremely bright. The culture Freeman has established along with many others in a relatively short time is outstanding. Guys like Chad Bowden and his group deserve just as much credit as the players and coaching staff. Chad is every bit as valuable as anyone there. He and Freeman together will continue to be a force going forward.

There has to be a bit of recency bias on Ohio State right now which is justified as the offense has been remarkable. But, we have to look at the entire season, and as good as they were against Tennessee and Oregon, they were equally as bad against Nebraska and Michigan.

I would be shocked if OSU keeps this up through the next two games. Oregon in particular looked like they just got out of bed in the first half. Their D cord continuing to run man on J Smith was insane.

If Howard is under pressure that offense is completely different, and the OSU O-Line has not played great this year in its entirety. I’m looking forward to the Texas game to see how they scheme up their D next Friday night.

Interesting.

Did you happen to watch Texas against Arizona State? They were extremely fortunate to win the game.

Oh most definitely. And you are correct, they were fortunate to win. No call on targeting and the 4th down TD. I’m not saying Texas is a world beater by any means, but OSU has been stopped by less this year which is why I’m not crowning OSU king just yet.
