ND playing Boise St in 2025

Was looking over the 2025 schedule. We have 11 games scheduled so far, although the dates aren't set for some of them.

Stanford isn't on there. So does this mean Stanford will move to the ACC rotation and won't be annual anymore?

My guess is that we would like to continue the pattern of having our final game of the year always be on the road in a mild-weather location. The USC/Stanford duo has served that purpose since 1998. With an odd number of teams now having football membership in the ACC, we're probably looking at Stanford to end the year on odd years and various other ACC teams to end the year on even years.

I'm sure the Big 10 will pressure USC to play us earlier in the year consistently.

Other conferences allow OOC rivalry games to be played at the end of the season - Florida-FSU, Clemson-SC, etc. So I'm hoping we can continue playing USC then every other year. We'll see, I guess.

A simple solution would be ND vs USC in Soouth Bend the second to last game of the year at home. Then Stanford Thanksgiving weekend. USC then plays UCLA. During even years ND plays USC Thanksgiving weekend.

USC-Notre Dame Game 2 in South Bend would be better than game 11, IMO.

Not that big of a deal. You already don't play at the end of the year for the sake of weather.

Texas and OU playing in late September hasn't hurt that rivalry.

It's not a big deal if our USC game moves to October or even the final week of September. It's a big deal if it moves to the first 3 weeks of the season, though. That's when everyone wants to play their OOC games, and we would be foolish to use up one of those precious spots permanently if we don't have to.

Now that teams have a bye week anywhere from the end of September to the beginning of November, ND will always be able to find some cupcake to come to South Bend as a 12th game.

That is murder on SC

They do it every other year all ready
In so. California.

so. California in late November and South Bend in late November are very different.

If I am USC or Stanford, I would never agree to playing at Notre Dame in late November.

And USC never has

USC will probably have to play on the road in November once in a while up North now that they have joined the BIG.

Boise State is 4-1 with their only loss being by 3 points to #3 Oregon. BSU might end up 12-1 and the Group of 5 playoff team. This could be a ranked vs. ranked match early next year.

ND still has an open slot for Week 1 but the other games are Texas A&M, Purdue, Arkansas, and Boise State. That’s perhaps three ranked opponents within the first five games. Not bad.

I doubt espn gives ND much credit.

Yup. And people were imediately dismissive of Boise based on the logo on their helmet.

I have watched Boise St. twice. Boise St. could beat Notre Dame this season. They are very good on offense, which Notre Dame is not. Next season no idea.

Not as easy as you think. Meatchicken has right of first refusal on the cupcakes

Michigan has a solid running game that I wish Notre Dame could get back to.
Though I wish ND’s running game was better, Michigan’s running game is not one to aspire to. Texas and Wash shut that running game down. Yes, they ran on SC, but then again most teams do.

With only 6 starts returning on the OL, it was clearly going to be an off/on year.

Back to the topic, Meatchicken schedules were soft the past 10 years

Michigan is averaging 5.1 YPC, ND 6.2.
When your last 4 games are Louisville, Miami Ohio, Northern Illinois and Purdue, and your next 3 games are Stanford, Georgia Tech, and Navy, statistics don’t tell a true story.

Georgia Tech and Stanford are ranked 11th and 12th in the country in rush defense.

NIU is 19th. Louisville is 38th. TX Am is 41st
