the SEC in general is way over rated by most this year. LSU's deficiency is obvious to all after the bama game. and LSU should have also lost to miss state earlier in the year and even Western Kentucky had a chance to beat them late in the game.
Alabama's run defense certainly looks the part. but the offense is iffy....and their pass defense is their weak point (don't be surprised if Miss State beats them sat)
Florida is the best defense in the conference but their offense is almost as bad as it was last year...hell they struggled to a 9-6 win over an completely impotent Vanderbilt team.
the other conference that's hard to figure is the big 12. potent offenses abound but the defense is pretty feckless. id love to see a match up of say LSU vs Baylor in a bowl game just to get an exact measure of how bad Baylors defense really is...as well as LSU's over all offense. Oklahoma may yet still wind up winning that conference but its more likely ok st/Baylor winner will
anyway at this point my top four are
Clemson, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Alabama but I think at the end of the year in order chosen by the committee it will be Clemson, OK, State Notre Dame, ....and while they wont deserve it LSU...as I don't see anyone on their schedule that will beat them....and I don't see anyway both the the Big Ten and SEC doesn't get at least one team in. if Iowa wins out...it would be interesting to see if the committee would bump the Irish or LSU
