I'd just like to address something I'm hearing a lot of this past week. I've heard numerous college football analyst say they believe Bama was clearly better then Ole Miss even though the Rebels beat the Tide. Let me be clear, I do think Bama is a much better team then the Rebels, but the double standard is obvious.

I've heard them (media) state ad nauseum that though Bama lost, they outgained Ole Miss, and even being minus 4 in TOs they still had a chance to win down to the end of the game, all true.
However, ND is getting a little love for their quality loss but none of them are saying ND was minus 3, and outgained Clemson by nearly 150 yards and had a chance to tie or win. Why?

I'm not saying ND is better then Bama, I'm just pointing out the obvious double standard. ND nearly pulled it out or had a chance to go to OT on the last play, Bama did not. ND did this at #1 Clemson, Bama played at home against (a soon to be unranked Ole Miss). I think there should be just as much praise for ND in this manner as Bama.

Also, LSU is good but very one dimensional, they were a terrible match up for Bama. Teams, like Ole Miss, OSU, Clemson, ND, etc.. have better chances because these are the type of team Bama is more likely to struggle with, two dimensional teams with mobile QBs.

My question is this: if ND had beaten Clemson would ND be ranked #1? Before last night ND was Clemson's only quality win.

Bama hasn't had an unbeaten season in quite some time but they have been getting the nod from pollsters anyway and generally showing up big in big games which is a credit to Saban

one could argue the ND loss is worse than the MSU loss (which was clearly on the refs!)

How does Bama lose to Ole Miss at home? ND lost to the number one on the road, plus if ND gets by Stanford away.

According to the committee, last year is irrelevant. If OSU was not defending champs would they be in the top 4? I say there is no chance. Bama is a different story, they've beaten some good teams, they would likely be #2 behind Clemson.

Perse, One could argue that the ND 2-pt loss to Clemson was worse than the MSU loss to a 3-6 Nebraska?

One would be 100% wrong.

Heard that on one of the CFP discussion shows last week. I think it was Butch Davis saying "if Bama hadn't turned it over 5 times they would have won"

True...but same goes for ND and a lot of games. Thought it was a double standard and very amateur of him.

Regardless...it won't come down to a decision between Bama and ND for a CFP spot. If Bama wins out theyre in. If they lose, they're out.

Though Ole miss losing didn't help our chances...just keep winning.

ND is better than Bama. And so is Stanford among others.
can't agree with that. bama did lose at home and it took 5 turnovers and a fluke td pass for ole miss. I do think nd can line up and play with anyone. this team is far superior to the 2012 team. many more weapons on offense with much better qb play. gonna be interesting to see it play out. if nd wins out the only way they don't get in is if a big 12 team is undefeated. a one loss big 12 team will not pass them.

We shall see come Tuesday but Alabama will get more love because of the 2012 train wreck against Alabama. ND really needs that win against a one loss Stanford team to help change the media perception of them. ND needs to win or have another good showing in the bowl game. You earn respect on the field and it feeds your program.

tOSU has won more than ND has won; that is why they have credibility and the committee can say publically whatever - but they are aware tOSU is defending champ and you lose that on the field; they have not been beaten yet.

We were FIFTH in last week's ratings. How can anyone say we're not getting a lot of love from the committee? But each week will be challenging. Even if we stay within one or two spots of the top four and win out through Stanford, our chances of being in the playoff will be determined by games in which we didn't play.

Actually most pundits yesterday (and I watched a lot of football yesterday!) were praising ND -- they were all saying we are for real and deserve the #5 ranking (and now that LSU got taken to the wood shed by Bama) I don't see why we don't move up one...

I know I'm a broken record, but everyone was saying Memphis, Memphis, Memphis last week and Navy just dominated them! Game was over beginning of the third quarter. Navy is really good this year, big and experienced and oh so well coached! And we dominated them.

Quality wins: Temple 7-1, Navy 7-1, USC 5-3 (who spanked a then ranked #3 Utah!)

Keep winning...

So glad Jimbo shit the bed and didn't play Golson. He is a big game kid who would have given Fla St another dimension yesterday. Once he wasn't playing I wanted Clemson to destroy them, which they pretty much did.

Totally agree. If Golson plays, I think FSU wins. Jimbo screwed up.

Okla. can beat 2 unbeaten teams in the next 3 weeks. Then if they win the B12 game convincingly, while ND is sitting idle that might sway the committee.

I do not think OSU or Baylor are 'sexy' enough.

LSU's last two losses were to Notre Dame and Alabama. They can brag about their losses. :)

Clemson fan here. Pulling for you all. Would be honored to have the Irish join the ACC coastal, Miami to hire a quality coach and the ACC have FSU, Clemson, ND and Miami as the top 4. The SEC could kiss it.
Question: will you all wish you were in the coastal if you beat Stanford and get left out. A championship game win would assure you get in. Thoughts?

On a neutral field tomorrow Bama is a TD favorite over us.

ND and its fans want no part of ruining the football program joining the ACC.

Bama may well be the best team in the country right now , but I would love to see this ever improving Irish team play them. I would also like to see us in a rematch against Clemson where we would be seven point favorites, IMHO.

This is almost as good as the Bama team that Clown Stomped us the last time - would be interesting to see how much ND has closed the gap .... I hope we get a shot.

Bama got stomped by Ole Miss at home, and against Tennessee - needed a TD with 2 mins left and the Tennessee kicker to miss three field goals in a 5 pt win over the Volunteers. They are just slightly better than LSU in the passing game and their running game is not dynamic. Derek Henry lacks speed and can be stymied.
