I know there has been a lot of negativity regarding ND's defense this year, but this week against Miami they were playing very hard and had great discipline. I am one to give praise when someone does good and they deserve to be commended for their play this weekend. How many times did Kaaya drop back to pass and could not find anyone open and either held the ball to long or tried scrambling. First time this year I have seen this. That only means the DB's had solid coverage and the LB's were also in coverage. Maybe Miami doesn't have the best OL, but still they got pressure on him when needed. The run defense was awesome. I think Miami ended up with 18 total rushing yards. That is great news and Miami is an above average team with great athletes. Maybe the defense is turning the corner and figuring things out. Now the offense needs to stop having such long cold spells when they build a lead. Special teams needs to be tightened up. This game would have been a 14 to 21 point win if not for the special teams, but they finally found a way to pull one out. This will really help with confidence.

The young kids playing in the back are getting better and better with more experience. Coney as the starter and Martini as the spot player has helped a lot. I would not call it "good" yet, but its getting better. And we have enough talent to be good.

Interesting, hard to tell which O-line is worse, the one Mark Richt has at Miami or the one he left behind at Georgia. They appear equally horrible.

speaking of defending the run.....Navy presents an exponentially more difficult challenge on the ground than Miami for this young defense. Will be interested to see just how the prep and adjustments happen....They are going to get their yards....Points? Red zone D? Pressure their quarterback?

The positive thing is that we should score just about every time we have the ball. Navy's D is not very good.

True but you cannot discount how the 'brilliant' and 'I know better than everyone else' coaching decisions will stop our own offense.
Also, Navy was embarrassed by their performance last week against USF. Expect a much better focused and determined group of Middies this week.

We're not missing nearly as many tackles as we were a month ago. That gets put to the test this week, but I feel much more confident about the defense. Reminds me a little of the 2010 team.

You mean...in the 1st half, right? We go into our list of "stupid plays that don't get any yardage" after halftime.

I agree what is wrong with our offense in the 2nd half of games? Is the DC figuring out our game plan and adjusting? Seems to me that is what is happening. The defense is playing faster and more aggressive. The DB's are actually next to the WR and making plays on the ball. Still would like to see more press coverage. I hate when teams give a big cushion and a easy 4-5 yards. Make them earn it.
