Look at it this way:

Memphis has beaten Mississippi who beat Alabama.
ND beat Navy, who has lost only to ND.

Navy beats Memphis, they sure look good, and they may even make the top 25.

BEAT PITT!!

I'd like to see Navy and Temple beat Memphis.........Too many people are talking Memphis up so any undefeated team that gets beat, except Clemson, helps our playoff chances

USC, Temple, Pitt, Clemson, Stanford, Navy all need to win as much as possible. I think it would be nice if Texas could put a string together since they beat the Sooners and the Irish crushed Texas. Anything to help the resume. I also think it's important for ND to beat Pitt by at least a couple of TDs.

Navy winning every game, except against the Irish, is always a good thing.

The money likes Navy. They opened as a 9 pt dog and are down to 7.5 in some books. Compare to ND who opened as a 7.5 fav and are now favored by 9 in some books.

Hey! Stanford and Pitt need to get one more loss each … when they play Notre Dame!

so you guys think that Memphis losing to an ordinary Navy team and subsequently getting beaten or beating Temple helps ND more than having a 1 loss Temple team defeat an undefeated Memphis team for the ND resume? really?

I don't know pers. I don't know what to think anymore. This is why "taking care of your own business" is more than just a catchy slogan. I think Navy is better than ordinary. You might have a point but unless we can get into the minds of the committee, who the heck knows?

Navy and Temple both have one loss each at the hands of Notre Dame. If Navy beats Memphis, I'm thinking they'll be ranked along with Temple.

Right on 44. A win over Memphis gets Navy in the top 25 and thus makes ND look better. Temple then knocking Memphis, who beat Mississippi, out of the top 25 would be the cherry on top.

If Navy wins, they'll surely be ranked at 7-1. And any time a team we've beaten becomes ranked, that's good for us.

well, I think Memphis beats Navy soundly; unless their whole season has been smoke n mirrors.

The more ND opponents who are ranked at the end of the year the better. Temple is already respected by the committee. If Navy continues to win they will begin to get more respect as well and will eventually be ranked. Memphis could lose the rest of their games this year and it won't have a negative impact on ND as long as Navy and/or Temple continue to win.

Memphis wins this game, imo. Navy can't handle a good passing attack and will not be able to outscore Memphis. If you get a chance to watch Memphis play, do so. Paxton Lynch is quite good and he has multiple receivers who just seem to always make a play.

Once a team loses one, two or even three games - beating them loses a lot of its luster.

Should Memphis lose to Navy, they would not be ranked anymore, so anything Temple
did to them after that would have no impact on ND's position.

Not sure about that. They are ranked 13th and beat Mississippi. If Navy beats them by a score, they could very well remain in the tail end of the top 25.

You act like Navy is some sort of cupcake. Navy is a legit ball team this year and it would not surprise me to see them beat Memphis.
The last few years have really adjusted my thinking. People really need to stop logo watching and look at the overall quality of the team. Temple proved that and I think Navy does as well.

if Memphis rises to the highest rating possible before getting knocked of by A team beaten by ND, JMO, that reflects better than Temple, Navy and Memphis all looking like 2nd tier teams.

there is no right or wrong on this, it is just a matter of various perspectives.

Probably right. But still, you get the jist of what I'm saying.

I loved beating USC, don't get me wrong. But they already had two losses
by the time we got a hold of them. They were highly ranked preseason.
Would have been awesome if we were the first team to beat them.

See what I mean?
