I was thinking about Alex Bars today and how overshadowed he has been in his career by elite offensive linemen that he has played right next to. Bars is a really good OL and I think will go top 3 rounds in 2019 draft.
This got me thinking about underappreciated players in ND history. Who is your most underappreciated player in ND history? Can't wait for Lou to chime in.
My most underappreciated might sound weird because he was a stud but I think Reggie Brooks is very underappreciated. When people mention best RBs in ND history, you hear Bettis, Ferguson, Pinkett, Gipp, Denson and for obvious reasons. Those guys are all great. I'm too young to have seen Ferguson, Pinkett or Gipp. I remember Bettis and I thought Brooks was better. Bettis stayed healthy in the NFL and had the HOF career. Brooks' rookie year, he ran for 1063 yards with a 4.8 yard average. Injuries hit and his career was over by age 25.
