The kid is a stud. Always has been, dating back to high school. The defensive staff, overseen by Kelly, completely failed him last year, when he should have been lined up beside Jaylon, giving ND a much better, more physical, group of backers.
They've given fee kid the opportunity to play, a scheme that fits his physical mentality, and he's excelling in it. Not surprised. He's finally being coached well and the net result is translating to success on the field.
Kid is "all day tough". Banged his shoulder up good yesterday and was still laying kids out hard after getting it looked at. ND needs 2-3 defensive players of his caliber every recruiting class. Land a player at each level, of his caliber and and compliment them with a rare player like Jaylon or Manti once in a 3 year cycle, and you'l have an excellent defense... You need a Harison Smith, Jaylon Smith and Isaac Rochell one year, followed up by a Nyles Morgan, Kei Russell and Stephon Tuitt the next... 4 classes composed of players like that, balanced out at each level, each year by guys that will develop and stick around and you'pl have a top 25 defense each year under a quality coordinator.
