Houston wins out.
Bama drops another game. Forida drops another...The SEC winner has two losses.

Big 12 has no undefeated with Oklahoma getting a second loss. And they all lose late in season.

Big 10 winner has one or two losses.

Gonna tell you this right now......NOBODY wants any part of North Carolina right now. There is hurry up and there is North Carolina hurry up.

If they beat Clemson they are in. Deservedly so.
Stanford , Notre Dame winner is in. Provided Stanford wins title game.

If Stanford wins or loses and Utah wins the Pac 12 title game...they might slip in.

This all leads me to Houston.
If they go undefeated, and some of the above happen.....Damn straight they better get in.

Gonna be a crazy few weeks.

I don't care if a smaller conference team goes undefeated. Unless they schedule big time opponents out of conference, and they dominate almost everyone, they have no business getting into the playoffs. They'll have some decent wins if they win out, but that's not nearly as impressive as a two or three loss team from a major conference.

Houston even scheduled an FCS school. It would be a crime if they get in, IMO.

Double 4,
We mostly agree on things all the time but I believe you are not giving the "smaller conference" enough respect.
I used to think like this about smaller conferences but this particular one, they can play.
Temple, Memphis, Houston can play with anyone on the top 4 playoff standings. Possibly others.
Remember something.....The scholarship rule brought parity to all colleges and it took a while to be an impact but it is in full swing now.
Secondly the offense and how it's always in a hurry spread type formation is going to get points even against bthe best defense.

As far as the fcs school scheduling goes ...every single one of those members wt the top excluding Notre Dame has been guilty of that. Everyone!

Everyone is guilty of scheduling an FCS, yes, but they don't follow it up with 8-10 small conference teams. They follow it up with 8-10 Power 5 schools.

Those schools from the AAC could potentially compete with some of the best teams, but can they win on a consistent basis? If you stuck Temple or Memphis in a Power 5 conference, do you think they would be sitting at one loss? I don't, and that's my issue.

If they beat several highly ranked teams, and were impressive in their in-conference games, that would convince me that they could get through a Power 5 schedule with zero or one loss.

You're correct to point out that there's more parity, but are those smaller conferences on an equal level to the Power 5 conferences? I don't think so nor do I think its close.

If they schedule strong out of conference to make it up for their weak conference, I'd be perfectly fine reconsidering my position. As it stands, its not fair to the Power 5 schools who have to play a much more difficult schedule.
