Rule: Obscenities in post titles and handles will never be tolerated. Non-subscribers, and particularly minors, can see obscenities in post titles and handles. We will strongly protect them against seeing that material.

Since there has been anarchy, how a bout a stern rules alert as general warning AND follow it up with enforcement! Own it Or Shut it Down!

to date, the only attention this forum has received was when a poster called out the Mods.

(post - post correction/edit: in this thread it has been pointed out the Mods have deleted offending threads which were reported. )

That's a shame, I left here some time ago because the board was out of control. I thought under the new format it would be better. Perhaps not? It may be a short stay for me.

you're deleting threads?

threads and posts using profanity, vulgar slang or gutterous comments, threats, and just abhorrible behavior have gone un noticed? profanity laced attacks on posters have become common place even to the point that there is the impression it it 'Mod permitted or condoned'.

(in addition, we have ben discussing player performances, naming players, IS that allowed and to what extent?)

Perse, you got your response. When you see problem posts use the "Report" button and flag it for review.

Sure beats the heck out of starting a thread titled "Wax You've got Mail".

they need to clean up the "multiples" using IP and then there is the 'special problem' - where even IP will not get it done.

I was on one evening when a poster was creating many multiples and he started complaining that they were getting deleted. It was almost as quickly as he was starting them.

Think of the mods as referees - they aren't going to see everything and will allow the kids to 'play' but, for the most part, get the flagrant offenders. However, you can play coach and throw the red flag (report button) to get them to review ;)

IG

thanks for your info; I have put these guys on ignore as fast as they are created so I was not even aware the posts were in fact being removed. I see (or do not see) that many of the posts which were most offendive get taken down

ANDREW,
hope you read this comment also! I also hope you try to track and not just remove posts but also remove the habitual instigating offenders.

And, Andrew can you clarify the issue of discussing individual player performance!

if you can read the thread on JS and provide feedback on the range of permissable discussion.
Are we even allowed to discuss the play of individual players? reading the rules there does seem to be some leeway there.

http://notredame.forums.rivals.com/threads/joe-schmidt.40118/
You're absolutely allowed to discuss individual players and you can criticize them as well. We don't advocate sunshine-pumping.

Posts about individual players are fine unless they include obscenity or cross the line in ripping a player if the criticism is out of bounds (common sense applies here).

I believe you should have some knowledge of the game, and at the very least our scheme, and player responsibilities, before you opine on who should be playing and who shouldn't. Just spewing a stupid drivel shouldn't be allowed

are you correcting AOwens?

on the selection committee are there any LB's? If you object to stupid drivel, then why do you post? such self deprication.

your premise is your opinion; it is 1 opinion. "1"

Never going to clean up multiple users on IP addresses. IB has already stated what their policy on that was.

This is a message board where fans can come to discuss the team and college football in general. It's not our job — nor would I want it to be — to determine which posters are qualified to give their opinions and which ones aren't.

If there are posters you don't want to read/interact with, I suggest you use the ignore function.

That, in a nutshell, should sum it up for everyone!!

Good Lord people - stop whining and quit worrying about goofballs
with "multiple handles". Your experiences here will be much more
cordial and enjoyable if you simply pay them no mind. Ignore them.

Resist the urge to reply to their posts. They post nonsense to get a rise
out of people. That is what they crave. They succeed when you reply or
initiate a debate with them. Seriously - complete and utter disregard for
their existence here will get under their skin and clear them out.

And you're a know nothing (would have used a stronger word, but I can't take your constant whinning), with keyboard bravado who hasn't played or coached a day in your life. Never went to practice, or ND, or probably even a ND game. Just sitting on your coach spewing your crap about players and coaches. Just a joke really. 24k+ post. Do you do anything in life at all? Grow up please!

Holy Hannah, you folks should start billing everyone here for babysitting....

Forget the premium content board this could be a cash cow.

Andrew, Is this what the board sounds like to you?

This is an interesting topic. I know that the risk is that they shut down a "public" or "shared" domain? imo They should shut down the IP address and if another poster makes contact saying, "hey, I was just at Starbucks in Newport Beach and my access was denied then they could figure out if they want to turn it back on...."

Admittedly, I don't know enough about it to know if it's feasible....

I feel like that would be really inefficient but I am not a tech guy either.

Yeah, I don't know the nuts and bolts of it, but it's sure good to see Andrew's post above that they're working on it....

it was mentioned that the problem is complicated by the mobile devices. Identifying IP addresses is less straight forward. Maybe Herb can chime in.

Yeah depending on how your mobile device is connected to the internet your IP address would be different.

Right, I guess I am not sure what you are trying to tell me. IB has said in the past that Rivals hasn't done anything substantial regarding the issue because it is really hard to control/police and they would rather be inclusive then excessively exclusive. Owens in this thread said they(Rivals) actually have someone working on it, we all agree that if it can be fixed that would be cool. Maybe I am missing something?

It's great to see the 2 most vindictive and consistently confrontational (on a personal level) posters on the board (pursy and cgvr) united in asking for more moderation. Are you two 5 yrs old? You poke someone in the eye, get smacked in return, then cry "mommy, mommy he hit me!" If you want to confront/attack/correct others, be prepared to take it in return. Grow a pair!!!! Who the heck cries out to moderators for protection on a free message board?

The issue is basic but hard to resolve.

At the end of the day Andrew is correct. It is a free and public forum. And until a handle breaks a board policy they are as entitled to post here as you, I, or anyone else. The issue becomes ( and this happens often since it is a college board) when multiple people. Not just handles log in from the same location or VPN. For instance before the switch over my handle IP was shared with a poster I had never heard of that was banned in 2005. Because him and u both at one point logged in from the same hotel wifi in Windsor at one point. So if you put a 'burn the earth' policy in where as you ban the IP. I would have been banned. For someone I had never heard of.

Also and this is one that happened just last couple months. We had a poster with a free account. That would occasionally use his father's paid account to log onto the premium content and read it. We knew it, no biggie. Until he had a drunk melt down one night on his free handle. And after it got banned logged onto the premium account to pretend he was someone else to try and defend himself. (Way to much drama for a posting board by the way) @ForeverNole22 was there that night. And it was funny. But should the moderators ban the entire IP and both accounts because of the drunken stupidity of one of them?

As Andrew said. If you come across a poster you just don't like. Fine, put them on ignore. It's a free posting board and not worth the drama. Now if instead you come across posts the break the rules or a poster the habitually breaks board policy. Report them. Because if you are doing it. And others do. Every one of those pops up on a dashboard the moderators see. And they don't go away until they are one way or another resolved.

That's not to say that every time you report someone that will lead to a ban or something else. But it will make the Mods aware of it. And that is 1/2 the battle. I just sent a report on a poster yesterday. I didn't say I required him banned or anything else. I don't have any power or right here anyone else doesn't. But I did note that it was a well known Michigan troll that has started posting under a new handle. Hopefully he gets thrown out on his ear. However if he isn't. Well that was the decision of the board administrators and I will live with it

Are you for real? I am hoping that argus and others have their handles reduced to one or punted. In fact, I was communicating with sal you dope.

Re-read my response to Andrew.

"Holy Hannah, you folks should start billing everyone here for babysitting.... Forget the premium content board this could be a cash cow.

That's hardly crying to mods.....

And I included the Nancy Kerrigan clip which sounds like you.

PS if it makes you happier not long ago perse threatened to ban me, send me to the corn field other b.s.....which was quite humorous considering he h a s zero weight here....

IB
that is pretty much the problem. As complicated as it is, JMO, there is are some additional complications.
I think the staff will get to the bottom of the issue in time; or the problem may just disappear. I suspect the later.

Please!! You're right about my interpretation of your participation in this thread, other than exploring the feasibility of banning IP addresses. However, a supposed man like yourself (I make that sexist assumption based on your claim to be a bouncer), should never repeatedly brag about being "invited" to post here by a do nothing moderator like WaxOn. If Wax was actually a good moderator, it would still be odd to act as if you were invited to the White House, when it's a free message board. Also, you used to frequently refer to "Board Ops" as if it was some incredible secret organization to which you had connections, rather than some guys scrolling through the ramblings of buffoons, with a sandwich in hand, on their lunch hour.

Disagree .. as long as a poster is allowed to post under numerous handles it will escalate not disappear. There's proof of that almost everyday. It's especially a joke when one posts under numerous handles in the SAME thread agreeing with themselves. They do this because they can't get agreement from any other posters for the crazy nonsense they post. And they do so despite everyone knowing what's happening. It turns the thread into a joke every time. Especially considering most of the multiple handled posts are a thread hijacked.

What's your opinion of posters that aren't even ND fans that seem to be compelled to respond to every post by every handle invented by those multi-id lunatics? IMO, they're sadly every bit as crazy (actually moreso) and annoying.
