MLAX: No. 3 Irish close regular season with dominant win at No. 17 North Carolina

Notre Dame men's lacrosse rebounded from Sunday's loss at Virginia with a commanding 18-9 win at North Carolina.

The No. 3 Irish (10-2, 4-2 ACC) took control of the game by scoring on its first nine shots on goal in the first half to create a 10-3 halftime lead. Notre Dame scored more goals in the first half than the No. 17 Tar Heels (7-7, 1-5) had shots on goal (eight).

North Carolina benched starting goalie Collin Krieg after allowing six goals on the first six shots on goal in the first quarter. Notre Dame starting goalie Liam Entenmann saved 11 shots in the victory.

Notre Dame's attack was led by sophomore Chris Kavanagh's five goals and one assist. Attacker Jake Taylor and midfielder Eric Dobson each registered hat tricks with three goals each. Senior Pat Kavanagh created offense with six assists and one goal.

Notre Dame will learn its NCAA Tournament draw Sunday at 9:30 p.m. EDT during the selection show on ESPNU. The first round will be played next Saturday and Sunday.
