He was retaliating. The USC lineman was wrapping his arm around Mills leg and trying to bring him down. Mills could have gotten injured. Looks like the refs might have seen the interaction based on how quickly they came into the area. Dirty play by the SC lineman.

The USC guy deserved it but if mills got caught he coulda got tossed. So I would rather he try to keep his cool

I agree, but pulling on his leg like that could have caused an injury. Looks like the back judge saw it, he came flying in, but didn't throw the flag.

The ref who ran into them to split them up right away didn't throw a flag. Very telling.
