Dateline Chicago....major brawl by young fans after the game. Police and security had to take control. And the hits just keep on coming for the Windy City. The area that I reside used to sponsor a Gus Macker 3 on 3 basketball tourney until the same exact thing happened. That took care of that. It's way too obvious who and what's to blame but no one, especially in the media, has the guts to say it.

You didnt say it either

I don't have the power to bring attention to the situation but I can say it loud and proud. Nobody will hear. The "thug life" is present everywhere. Shall not disrespect me. Shall not look at me. Shall not walk in my neighborhood. Adults fear me. I do not fear them. My scripture is violent vids and "music". I cause havoc because I can and it will earn me respect. Does that pretty much sum it up?

Thank you.

I wasn't at the game and didn't see the game on TV. The brawl was covered extensively by all Chicago news outlets though.

Boring game, as one might expect, sort of like an NBA all-star game. But who the f cares about these one and dones anyway?

What this game has become is pretty sickening, and unwatchable. Glorification of these 17-18 year old kids is nauseating. 90% of the kids in this game are using college as a minor league for the NBA. They have no interest whatsoever in a college degree.

I don't see how you think it is the kids fault?

Why is it a problem if they have no interest in a college degree? The Problem is that the NCAA makes them go to school for one year. Their only other option is to leave the country or sit out a year. It is ridiculous to me that an organization can stop you from making money for a year. Anti-capitalistic.

I do agree it is sickening that these young kids are glorified, but just because you and I don't like to watch it I would not call it 'unwatchable.' Because if no one watched it, it would not be making people money, and therefore it would not be happening.

Agreed. Blaming the kids is way off.

My post says nothing about blaming the kids or anybody else. Just said it was sickening to watch. Maybe it's just my perception, but this seemingly personifies all that is wrong with basketball recruiting and the elite talents - it's a sleazy, crooked business with no regard for the development of the player. It's all about the Benjamin's - even at 16, 17 , 18 years old.

Oh I agree. The whole AAU thing will make you throw up in your mouth. Its so corrupt.

Coaches used to help in direction of kid to college but now AAU coaches use the kids to go to certain colleges and shoe companies sponsorships are no better. Too much power and money exchanging hands today. I don't mean to imply all AAU coaches but there are a lot of sleazy ones.

There are many industries and professions that require employees to have a certain level of education. Do we call that "anti-capitalistic?" I think it would solve a lot of problems if the NBA and the NFL required a bachelor's degree for all their employees. I also think the players' associations should endorse the idea. It is in the best interest of their future members. Imagine major college athletics filled with student athletes again.

Exactly and that insanity is why the country is so screwed up now. Take heart as all the big cities have liberal loons messing them up daily. Idiot here in Houston as well.

If someone has the talent to go and make millions of dollars (for themselves and for the owners of the team) why would you require them to go and get a degree for something that does not matter? Getting a degree is important to the 99.99% of us who do not have talent like a lot of these kids. Why spend four years getting a degree that could get you $60-80k/year when you could be making ten times that without it? I guess the whole thought of an organization telling someone when they can and can't make money (while THE organization is making millions off of them) is completely ridiculous to me.
