Notre Dame men's basketball will hit the court tonight for the first time since head coach Micah Shrewsberry's rant about fans giving up on him and the players in the program.

The Irish (11-14, 5-9 ACC) will face another tough test following Sunday's 75-60 loss to Louisville. SMU (19-6, 10-4) comes to Purcell Pavilion with one of the best scoring offenses in the country. The Mustangs are averaging 82.1 points per game, which ranks No. 22 in Division I. Notre Dame, which averages 73.2 points per game, has scored more than 82 points on just six occasions and two of them came in overtime.

SMU has six players averaging double digits in scoring this season: guard Boopie Miller (13.4), guard Chuck Harris (12.5), forward Matt Cross (11.9), center Samet Yigitoglu (10.7), guard Kario Oquendo (10.3) and guard B.J. Edwards (10.3).

The 6-foot-7 Cross is leading SMU with 8.2 rebounds per game. The 7-2 Yigitoglu is averaging 1.1 blocks per game. The 6-3 Edwards is averaging 2.2 steals per game.
