Mark my words you heard it here. The team to watch this year is..............Penn St. I watched some of their game against Pitt and I was totally amazed. it seemed like just yesterday this program was hopelessly dead with the Sandusky fiasco and Paterno dying. But they are every bit worth their number 6 ranking. And we are every bit worth our number 30 ranking. My question is how did this program turned itself around in such a short time and we struggle year after year with excellent recruits.penn St reminded me of the Holtz teams of the 90's. Tough, disciplined and focused.I think Kelly has taken this program as far as he can.Coaching coaching coaching.

Look at the programs that make it to the New Years Day Bowls and the playoffs. Most of them have a power running game................and then a passing game. Wasn't it the other way around for Kelly at Cincinnati and Long at Memphis? Isn't that why Kelly hired Long............pass first, then run?

If you paid attention at all, you would have heard BK say that the focus will be on the run this season. The Irish ran against Temple. They could neither run or pass against Georgia. Many, including the gang on "Game Day", thought BW would be the difference maker. But they wrongly assumed the OL would show up for that to happen. The offense had more issues than the glaring one with the OL. They had drops. They had Receivers who were not creating any separation. BW's accuracy was questionable at times. Georgia penalties helped the Irish offense countless times for crying out loud. Yoon's performance directed attention away from bad Special Teams play that is only getting a mild mention or two.

And, look at USC; how they have bounced back. Have won 11 in a row. ND just flounders.

As to special teams, you have the same old coach with the same old results. Polian is really talented as a recruiter but as a special teams coach it's the same ol-same ol.
