*** I reported in the Gold Standard this morning that I was hearing Amarillo (Texas) Tascosa class of 2022 offensive weapon Major Everhart was planning on visiting Notre Dame for the Irish's contest against Purdue Sept. 18. I wasn't sure if it would be for an unofficial or official visit, but after talking to a couple of sources today, I'm hearing that Notre Dame is working to have Everhart in for an official, and it's all but locked in at this point. The Irish staff wouldn't bring Everhart in for an OV if they weren't serious about him. This is certainly notable news.
*** A subplot here is that Everhart's former teammate, King Doerue, is a running back for Purdue, and I know Everhart is looking forward to seeing his buddy play. Don't take that as Everhart wanting to take a free trip to Notre Dame, though. While I'm still curious about exactly how open Everhart is to leaving the state, I believe he's very serious about the Irish. In fact, I believe he would've committed to one of the Texas schools over the summer if not for Notre Dame jumping into the mix. Texas Tech is pushing hard for Everhart, and I'm told he'll visit there this weekend. Additionally, Texas is sniffing around and may end up offering.
