Here are tonight's Lucky Charms...
*** I recently caught up with Milton (Ga.) High class of 2023 defensive end Lebbeus Overton, the nation's No. 1 player in the 2023 class. Let me be very clear in saying that I think this is a complete long shot for Notre Dame. It would be a shock if he doesn't end up somewhere in the Southern part of the United States (or Oklahoma). But Overton told me that he still has interest in Notre Dame and wants to visit either at the end of July or during the season. He has family ties to Chicago and South Bend. Again, long shot here but hey, get him on campus and you never know.
*** Buford (Ga.) High class of 2022 safety Jake Pope released a top five schools list of Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Ohio State this evening. He officially visited four of those schools in June. The one he didn't OV to was Georgia, but he unofficially visited the local school twice this month. Per my sources, the feeling has been that Pope will end up deciding between ND and UNC, but if Georgia makes a strong push, that will make this one very interesting. I expect Pope to make a decision on a school in the coming days. I truly do not know which school it will be.
*** One of Notre Dame's top remaining OL targets in the 2022 class is Aamil Wagner, who is from the same high school as Mike Mickens and Marcus Freeman. Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne head coach Roosevelt Mukes, who coached the Irish tandem while they were in high school, was at Notre Dame last week to bring a couple of his players up for a prospect camp. One of the players is class of 2023 wide receiver RJ Mukes III, who is Roosevelt's son. He worked out at both wide receiver and cornerback at the camp. He does not hold any scholarship offers at this point in time.
*** The other prospect was Evan Tengesdahl, a class of 2023 offensive lineman who holds offers from Kent State, Miami (Ohio), Toledo, West Virginia and Western Michigan. He will be one to keep an eye on for the Irish this fall. Remember, this Wayne offensive line also has Joshua Padilla, who Notre Dame has offered in the 2023 cycle too.
