Louisville loses 38-20 to one win Pitt.

We all knew that UL would lose this game and might lose 2 more.

For whatever reason ND coaches, players were not ready to play. Freeman as the HC has to get the team to the level where they can grind through games like UL.

Dude it's not about the coaches players didn't show up, simple as.

Yet ND held USC to their second lowest in 2,years and hung 41 on them

Don’t get me wrong, it was a very tough stretch of 4 consecutive night games against ranked opponents, but ND should’ve never been whipped like that by UL. They looked unprepared in every single phase, and this offense has fallen off drastically.

They put everything they had into last week's game and probably came out flat tonight. That's why our 4-game stretch was so tough. Hard to get up for that many games in a row.

If we go 10-2 against this schedule, that would be a very good season IMO.

I have confidence they’ll pound Pitt, they’re terrible. If they can get past Clemson, they should win 10.

Though we did lose to a one win Stanford last year at home..

This boards lacks some serious CFB knowledge. It amazes me that most of our posters have watched CFB for decades & still dont get emotional let downs these kids have year after year. That's why savy AD like OSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Duke schedule their bye weeks after marque games. Swarbrick didnt foresee that playing 8 games when most of CFB have only played 6 wasnt the greatest strategic move for the program.

Last year ND faced a record 8 teams off of byes, that’s absolutely garbage. I don’t know what can be done about it but I’d think the AD could do something.

I also have for decades watched emotional letdowns after a big game. For me, Duke after Ohio State was one, but ND managed to eke a victory.

I still think ND should have recovered and won vs Louisville. ND has the great talent and, in theory, coaching. Obviously ND is coaching work in progress with Freeman and Parker in particular. With players too, especially the receivers. Growing and development pains with a new coach and new college football era.

Yesterday pleasantly surprised me. Mostly because of clarity. It's clear to me Harman is good, but a tenuous receivers corps and Parker play calling lapses makes the offense struggle. Lucky the defense is very good.

I could be wrong but I think USC would beat Louisville. ND losing to the Cardinals says more about ND inconsistency than Louisville strength. Anyway, by this point, if ND can run the table, maybe the Irish get a good bowl game?

This can still be a very good season. More progress as Freeman, most of all, learns and develops. BTW: Parker seems like a good person. I really hope he can develop. Something tells me this is where Freeman has to focus.

OSU is now in the midst of playing 9 straight games. Plenty of teams play 8 straight before a bye. ND just got caught with playing 4 straight vs undefeated ranked opponents. These schedules are made years in advance and who knew Duke and Louisville would have been undefeated at the time?

Beating USC is awesome but bittersweet. This team had playoffs written all over it but terrible OC and that held us back.

We opened week 0 in Ireland so ND was going to 2 byes this year. To backload them just didnt seem like the smartest thing to do.

I agree our offensive problems are far from being solved. Parker was never supposed to be OC & the ND admin is 100% to blame for it. Freeman has a big off season coming up. Replace OC & S&C coach. Think he has to take a hard look at DL & OL not sold on Washington & Rudolph. Also gotta make sure we dont lose Golden or Mickens.

Agree here. Besides not knowing who will be good or bad five years down the road, ND is at some mercy to the ACC, which gives it partial membership. It's a two-way street.

We had a month long pre season camp, played overseas, and played 8 straight games.

That's almost 3 straight months off football with no break. No one had that but us

Both Pitt and Stanford looked a lot better this weekend. Neither looks like an easy win anymore.

Where do you draw the distinction between the call of the play and the execution of the play ?

How or where do you assign credit or blame ?

Does a play fail because of its inherent situational, structural flaw or the failure of the players to properly execute it ?

Or does a well called play fail because of extraordinary defensive play calling and execution ?

It‘s not so easy to determine, especially by armchair amateurs !

Let’s be realistic, a terrific defensive effort won last night’s game.

The offense needs considerable improvement

Agree. Even Hartman is not as accurate as he was earlier in the season.

Vegas has ND as only a 3.5 point favorite
If ND fails to beat Pitt by two scores then they definitely aren’t the team we hoped they’d be. Pittsburgh is terrible.

The team should feel insulted they’re only 3 point favorites against a two win team.
