Sorry my friend. Not buying it. SC still has players. Really good players and a HC who has won 11 games and 10 games while winning a PAC 12 title and a Rose Bowl. As a fan, I would never discount SC. This ND/USC game is a different animal. I love the ND prime time home game against USC. It's a terrific atmosphere. I already have my grill and gear packed for October 12th.

Georgia and Mich are obviously very good teams and we haven't beaten Stanford in Palo Alto for quite awhile.

USC is in deep doo doo. Their losing season of 2018 has been compounded by a terrible offseason. Their recruiting class was ranked 19th by Rivals (lowest in years). They lost out on getting Kingsbury and embarassed themselves by trying to block him from going to the NFL. They lost their strength and conditioning coach to Seattle. They lost a stud safety from their 2017 class. Their star recruit, Bru McCoy, has bolted and is Texas bound. Another recruit, Kyle Ford, is wavering and talking to Oregon.

To make matters worse, Greg Johnson, one of 3 returning CBs and a projected starter, has also entered the transfer portal. Maybe USC can join one of those conferences in the remote areas of Texas where they field 6-man teams.

I said it once and I will say it again, USC came within an onside kick of tying and/or beating ND last season and that was with Helton, a losing season, and a true rookie high profile QB. JT isn't a rookie anymore. They still have plenty of weapons. I think ND has to take advantage of the situation before USC hires someone who will be the Petey reincarnate.

unfortunately Vanderbilt et al were just as close. Although I guess the first half of SC was our worst or 2nd worst half of the regular season. Come to think of it we played at least 5 bad halves in a 12 game season.

I agree with you, I think this is a major concern and will cost ND dearly.

As a season progresses, injuries and fatigue are major factors as is travel.

I’m concerned that this scheduling situation will result in 4 losses

go over and catch the video of the SC drills yesterday. It looked like a pilates class for 70 year olds!
They just stroll through drills. This has become so commonplace that the players do-not even realize their own lack of intensity. This may be Helton’s softest team yet!

So Helton has forgotten how to coach since the Rose Bowl win and the PAC 12 title? And, USC held their own down to the end against play-off bound ND last year...and that was with a true rookie at QB. I get it. USC fans have high expectations just like ND fans expect. Give Coach Helton another four to five years to make good. If nothing happens by then, feel free to re-evaluate his status as the USC head coach. I'm just a fan and an outsider to boot, but why do I feel that Coach Helton is on a short leash now that Urban Meyer is out there?
