Let me be the 1st one to congratulate Michigan

I’ve looked at the pylon view a dozen times and it doesn’t show details on the movement or non-movement of the football, but the front view does show lack of control, then control when the ball is at the white line.

The rules expert and the general football world called it a TD.

The fact that you and I and the entire football world are debating this issue proves that there wasn’t incontrovertible evidence that would overturn the ruling on the field

Id have to see that pylon view. If definitely right about incontrovertible evidence and I agree there. Im just confused why the best angle to judge it was the only angle not shown on the broadcast. It’s reckless by ESPN to say the least. Can you link the pylon view?

I’ll try, but I suck at posting photos and links

Agreed.

Also, I think NCAA refs need to get on the same page about what targeting is or isn't. That last play was clearly targeting to the letter of the rule. I have seen some many times where it is obvious, the refs review, then determine it is not.
They should just rename it to the hard hit penalty.

We should stop whining about calls in the lol Michigan thread.

The pylon view is probably the worst view.

I don’t know why they don’t show the frontal view which shows the ball being bobbled.

At this point it doesn’t matter, but the whole point of replay is to get the play right, and that’s more important than our biased views as fans..

What surprised me was how poor the resolution was on the South Carolina receivers foot on the called TD pass yesterday

Yeah, but that’s still the wrong camera to judge. Why in the heck is the pylon camera unavailable? It was used later in the game so I know it’s there.
Keep looking at the video, the pylon video is there

You shouldn’t gloat, if that was an ND receiver who bobbled the catch and then secured it in the end zone and the refs said it was no TD, you and everyone of us would have gone ballistic.

Both teams played well and TCU came out on top !

Congratulations to both teams !

It’s not the worst view. It’s the absolute best view for what transpired.

You’re definitely right about the SC cameras. I haven’t seen such terrible camera closeups in over a decade that I can remember. The SC WR was kicking up white chalk. That wasn’t from the end zone. Out. BUT, because the camera view was so damn piss poor, there wasn’t a real way to call it other than what was ruled.

When Terry McCauley, an NFL rules expert with no dog in the fight states that their was insufficient evidence to overturn the call, that adds enormous weight and credibility to it being the wrong call

Which takes me back to the FSU game and the alleged pick call and the failure to call a penalty on the FSU player for taking off his helmet.

In theory, video replay has a secondary benefit of preventing “homer calls”, so as fans, even if a video replay doesn’t favor ND, I want the video replay to get it right. That’s why the video crew has to be from a different conference than the field crew.

To avoid errors and ”homer calls” the NFL has all replays reviewed from league headquarters because the NFL wants to get the call right, regardless of which team it favors

The rules expert on ESPN said it wasn’t a TD. Said he was down short of the end zone.

That’s not at all what he said. He said it was short of the end zone.

I agree with this, but the NFL has botched a ton of roughing the passer calls this year. They’re definitely not a beacon of consistency IMO.

That’s because RTP is such a subjective call, whereas calls of fact, ie, he is or isn’t out of bounds, aren’t so subjective.

But they’re working on improving the replay process. More cameras/angles are part of the improvement process

NO, everyone else doesn’t see it differently, only the Michigan haters see it differently

The ruling on the field was a TD.
In order to overturn that ruling there has to be incontrovertible evidence to the contrary and that didn’t exist.

Even the network‘s rules expert said it was a TD.

You and the others are hypocrites because you know that if that was an ND receiver you’d be screaming that it was a TD.

The unbiased football world knows that it was a TD.

Just look at the front view
I thought we are the Michigan haters. This is a ND board right

To hell with that clown too.
“Clown” ?

You’re the clown, he’s a highly successful coach, in both the NFL and in college.

You should be half as successful in your vocation as he’s been in his vocation !

HOF thread here imo

I could give a flying fvck whether Michigan deserved to win etc.

Michigan lost, which to an honest world is roughly the equivalent of Iran Russia etc losing

If that’s your equivalency, your too dumb to be a moron !

I've been called moron by far more knowledgable and respectable posters than yourself.
Then it’s unanimous, you’re a total and undisputed moron as determined by knowledgeable and respected posters.

But, I didn’t call you a moron !

I didn’t call you a moron because you’re too stupid to be a moron !

Try to understand the difference !
