Latest AP Poll

Not that it means a lot but we are up to #4 just five points behind Ped State
The reality is ND won't be ranked ahead of PSU until after they lose to Oregon in the BIG10 championship game. If Texas beats Georgia, ND will end up with the 5th seed. If Georgia beats Texas, or PSU manages to beat Oregon, ND may end up as the 6th seed. With Alabama looming as the 12th seed, I'd almost rather ND slot in the 6th.

Alabama at Notre Dame is a TV ratings bonanza.

Totally, but would rather ND face off against a lteam as talented team in the 1st round. They'll face tougher teams if they advance. Then again Alabama has weaknesses, ND could beat Bama, but it would be a tough game for sure.

PSU/Alabama would be a ratings bonanza as well.

Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State, Texas, and Georgia for me are the toughest possible opponents.

ND need not fear anybody...but I wouldn't mind avoiding them in a 1st match if possible.

But as they say, to be the best you have to beat the best...can't wait.

Bring Bama to South Bend in December!
Would love a game against bama but i think they are much better than their record indicates but the perception of their program is down at the same time. And beating them this year wont carry the same cache as it did under Saban.

Bama has no business in the playoffs. I think their 3 losses are one too many. The beatdown to Oklahoma, a 6-5 team should have put them behind Miami. Miami's two losses are by a combined 9 points, and both teams have winning records at or better than Oklahoma's. The knock on Miami is that they aren't eligible for the conference title game.....and neither is Bama.

Seriously what has Penn St accomplished this year? We now have our 2nd common opponent. Both games were at Southern Cal. We did not need a 4th qtr comeback, nor overtime, to win by more than a field goal against the better quarterback.

Yes, but give it up. If they win Saturday, they'll be ranked ahead of ND, if they lose they'll be ranked behind ND. Who cares, it's the final ranking that matters.

It’s tough, because as much as I can’t understand their bad loss to OU, I still think they’re better than Indiana, ISU, ASU, SMU, Clemson, BSU, etc..

But your record should matter as well.

They should pick the best 12 regardless of how many losses
Then its a beauty contest conjured up in the smoke-filled back room. That solves nothing. At least win your conference championship to defend losing 25% of your games.

No. Playing a tough schedule should matter. If you are saying it doesn't why wouldn't every team just schedule the weakest opponents they possibly could just to have 1 or 2 losses and make it every year?

If that's all it takes then we should just stop scheduling difficult games and we'll make it every year. And everyone else should follow suit because your schedule doesn't matter right?

3 loss Clemson played two SEC teams and lost both games. If they get in winning the ACC, so be it.
Both of the SEC teams Clemson lost to are ranked.....and they are in their conference championship game. That separates them from Bama.

Clemson got pounded by Georgia, Alabama beat Georgia.

The ACC is far weaker than the SEC.

We could play your charade all day.

I think we could take Bama this year. In South Bend in the cold, and we're a running team. Hell yes. But frankly I don't know how much easier someone like Arizona St. in a first round game would even be. Other than they'd be even less comfortable in genuinely cold weather.

that is truly stupid. How you judge a team is how many games it wins and loses; when you lose that many you do not DESERVE to be in the playoffs.
So when Army and Navy had 0 losses did you view them as a top 5 team?

Do you consider Boise and UNLV on the same level as Georgia?

Is Army better than Georgia right now because they have less losses. Better than Tennessee and Ohio State too?

That is an idiotic take by you. Who is on your schedule has to matter. Otherwise never schedule a tough game ever. Why would you using your logic. Just really dumb

So what's the cutoff for Bama to be ineligible? 4 losses? 5 losses? Whats their magic number? After all its strength of schedule that matters most......so lets just go ahead and invite the top half of the SEC....then, we only have to fill another 4 spots.
It's a difference of 1 loss between the teams. 3 losses compared to 2

So compare the two teams. Bama has 3 top 25 wins, Georgia South Carolina and Missouri. Miami has 0 top 25 wins. How can that not matter ? If it was 2 losses vs 4 then okay. But it's a difference of 1 and the schedule aren't even comparable

I want Miami to make it. I hope they do. But Bama is more deserving to me
