Kizer is the real deal. Still raw at points but I love having a big QB that can make throws and take hits. Procise is an absolute monster, what a blessing to have him as the back RB when Folston went down. It was also nice to see the special teams play well. I still don't get how our defense can shut down GTech one week and let Umass run all over them the next week. It seems the defense didn't take Umass seriously. However, it was a great win verse a MAC team and the MAC is a conference many power 5 teams have been struggling with as of late. Bring on Clemson!

What is worrisome is the big plays the Irish defense has a tendency to give up. Irish insiders that I heard tonight in post game coverage say the biggest problem is playing out of position. They singled out Joe Schmidt today and the long TD run by UMass. They rightly pointed out that this can be corrected as opposed to getting blown up physically which cannot be fixed. Another needless missed extra point. This team is 4 - 0 but definitely has flaws that has to be corrected immediately if not sooner. Mechanical issues with Kizer's release is a work in progress. Still, KIz is doing a tremendous job and the lads are 4-0. Not too shabby.

Completely agree. I'm not sure if the defensive struggle is due to too much agression or lack of discipline. But, these big plays need to be stopped. Also, I don't get what's up with Yoon, but missing these extra points is ridiculous. I agree Kizer still has issues, but honestly he has been a more than solid back up and if these issues get rectified as the season progresses there is no telling what his ceiling is. And like you said 4-0 is nothing to complain about.

Notre Dames defense steps up when they need too !! Jaylon Smith is a super star ! He makes tons of plays ! Don't waste your time complaining about the Irish D falling asleep sometimes ! They rise when it matters ! This is Jaylon Smiths last year.. He will be gone soon. Sit back and Enjoy him and Sheldon Day --- You will miss them !

They will shut down Clemson !!

Clemson will make some big plays against us. That is a fact. But so will the Notre Dame's offense. Our defense has the athletes to make big plays themselves.

This is not 1995 any more. Offenses run about 25 to 30 plays more a game now compared to pre spread hurryup tempo. That is another quarter worth of plays. I think Doug Flutie explained that today.

It is too hard to shut down offenses game in and game out like we did against Texas. IMHO.

*** I think the IRISH D runs on a lot of adrenaline and when it looks like things are easy and ND is up by a couple of scores they relax too much. imho---maybe BVG can correct this. I don't know.
