Gutty win for the Irish. They over came the absence of 3 key players on offense, a lot of self inflicted penalties and an above average Duke team to win a close one of the road. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

Too bad Georgia won. The Irish with Hartman can run the table.
From almost losing to Duke, now they can run the table ?

You donā€™t think that USC, Louisville and Clemson will be a problem ?

I think we dominate Louisville because of this performance

Usc and Clemson will be very difficult

Ummm sirā€¦ this is the Kool Aid thread and some of us posting here will drink it liberally. Theyā€™ll be plenty of time and plenty of threads to state facts about our teams short comings but this thread is for blind optimism.

I am disappointed HRC08. I clicked in thinking this was going to be a thread honoring me.

But I agree completely with your analysis!

USC had problems with an overhyped Colorado (Oregon is the class of the P12), Louisville almost lost to a terrible IU team. Clemson will be a really tough road test, though.

Thank God we have this kid. Heā€™s really stepping it up more and more each game.
Most forget he was a QB in HS before.

Recall after the Navy game when this board was bleeding all over the ā€œlack of TE involvementā€? Lol

TE room very talented but have had some bad luck with injuries last 2 years. Staes needs to work on his concentration

Hartman was the man. Picking up the first down. I loved his jump to make sure he got it. WRs didn't help him but he found a way to make it work.
That was clutch alright. 'Cause it was looking pretty grim. Duke must have felt like ND/USC 2005. All they gotta do is make one stop.....

This is always a nuanced discussion. But yeah, I drink the kool aid of hoping Freeman will evolve to win a ND a NC. My thesis remains: a charismatic coach of brand like ND can recruit a strong base with select impact transfers and NIL game changers to compete with a more even distribution of talent preventing stacking at semipro colleges...and that Freeman will defy the statistical odds against no head coaching experience.

Sure, they eye test alone shows a lot of clean up in coaching and, more specifically, play calling in key moments. But Freeman is beating teams he should. Should have beaten Ohio State. Actually beat Duke yesterday to show progress in a difficult trap game against a tough team...where again offensive coaching staff could have called a better game plan: too much Estime and Co pausing and going between tackles when it wasn't effective, as OL had some issues.

I think and hope this can one fixed. The only thing that might not be fixable short term is an apparent lack of receivers for Harman to leverage. But I think the OL can dominate with a dominant run game with just a bit better game planning. Of course, all this is commented by a defense getting better and better. Same with special teams.

At the end of the day, Freeman got ND to almost beat an elite Ohio State and beat a tough Duke. He instills toughness. That for me is the gap between him and BK, who often didn't in key big games. Again, I think Freeman can learn fast enough on the job, getting the key players to play at elite level.

He is 5-1 in season 2 against a tough schedule. For now winning against teams he should beat. Every game is crucial. We'll of course need the entire season to keep assessing.

I give Freeman an A- right now. My armchair advice: Get more involved on game day, put some heat on the offensive coaches, busting out all the creativity bout wide receivers.

I do love cherry kool aid. But shamrock green kool aid is good too. Pass it!
