Kizer declares for NFL draft

It will be a redshirt freshman at QB probably, Davis by all accounts is very raw not sure he jumps over Book
At least there are now some readymade excuses if things go downhill in 2017.
Can't say I'm surprised he left. He could still use another year in college IMO.
Will have to rely on that stellar running gam.....oh wait never mind.
Think they are talking that if BW goes down who the backup would be. BW is the starter no doubt.
So much for BK's ploy to name him a captain for 2017. BK - if he truly had the kids best interest would of counseled him to leave and get paid now.
DK had nothing to gain by coming back another season to ND - he would of had a lot to loose - i.e. injury or playing on another bad team, etc. Better QB's in next year's draft, etc.
This move was a no brainer and BK should of encouraged it instead of trying to "sucker" DK into staying another year.
Yes he could. As I stated before he would stay if there was a different coach at ND in 2017. He doesn't like Kelly. He's making the right move with what Jack has offered up for next year.

Nothing different from 2015 -- MZ was basically an unknown talent -- while he started the bowl game, the jury was still out on him.
Also -- Kizer, a RS freshman, got thrown to the wolves that year due to injury.
At least in this situation, BW can settle in during spring ball and summer camp -- unlike 2012 when Golson and Rees were battling and no one knew who the starter would be.

Oh, there are excuses every year w/ BK as the coach. Jack may have to amend his 2 year cycle of review to 3 years.
Comical how the excuse makers came up w/ crap for this season - close loses - playing freshmen - a lot of teams have to play some freshmen. ND football is a joke - complete joke.

Kelly has to be excited, because in year eight, what excuse could he make if Kizer did come back???? Lol, Kelly will always be a loser at this level.
I wish Kizer a long healthy successful NFL career, but I'm now 100% behind Wimbush and anxious to see him take control of the offense.
Wimbush probably has the strongest arm of any ND QB I can remember. Accuracy and being a leader are obviously TBD. Rees didn't have a lot of physical tools, but I know his teammates LOVED playing for him. It makes a big difference.
It doesn't matter beach. Some here want a complete Irish football meltdown so they can come here and pound their chests. Look at the responses here instead of total support for BW. For Irish insiders who have actually attended practices (unlike anyone here), there is a huge upside and potential for BW. Great arm, knows the offense, runs like a deer. We all knew this day was coming and I wish BW the very best. It was only a few weeks ago that some on this board were so down on DK that they wanted him to leave and BW to take over.

Wasn't Sanford's job this year to just coach Book and Wimbush? I think he had a lot of attention given to his game last year.
Fortunately, he will get a ton of spring snaps. I have long felt he was our most talented QB but he hasn't played at ND with live bullets much except for a few times as a true freshman.
Thankfully we now have some experienced receivers in EQ, Sanders and KS. Smythe and Alize at TE. Adams at RB. An entire OL returning.

Good for Kelly - he has a built-in-excuse: too many loses and he can point to having an inexperienced QB - which of course could not be Kelly's fault.....could it?

Melt down - we are 4 -8 this season - next season we win no more than 7 or 8 wins. A 8-4 season is a great year for Iowa St. For ND ... 8-4 gets us another Pinstripe bowl ? And another season of coach 8-4.

He's no longer listed that high on most draft boards. Kiper and McShay don't have him in their 1st rounds. However, he could improve his draft stock with a good combine.
For those of you Pro Kelly. Most of (OUR) the Anti Kelly crowd look at the last 30 yrs as mediocrity mixed with some memorable years. I think perhaps many of you are on a season to season plan?

Where would we have been had it not been for him? Kelly crushed Dayne's spirit! Hendrix.....no thank you.

Fast forward year 7. If we could skip it i would. 4-8 only 1 10 win season. Ass kickings in every major bowl we've been in. BK signature wins vs. Lsu, Oklahoma. Flirted with the NFL, 2 tragedies related to football. Berating of players, lack of accountability. Reports of job fishing, piss poor game management, terrible playcalling.
Yea its safe to say we are pissed off! Rightly so. Many of us that fell in love with ND. Fell for the things that ND used to stand for. Sure they claim to care for the same things. Not so. Ask yourself this? If they did care about the fans, alumni, student athletes, prospective coaches? Then why has the University not done a better job of keeping pace with the landscape for which it sits?

I don't think there's too many "pro Kelly" fans IN GENERAL out there. But if you're pro ND, and he's going to be the coach in 2017, then you are pro-Kelly for 2017. Who doesn't want him to do as well as he possibly can, if that also means that we also do as well as we possibly can?
