SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Kevin Stepherson, a Notre Dame wide receiver, has been sentenced on Thursday for his possession of marijuana in August of 2016, a Class B misdemeanor.

On August 19th of last year, Stepherson along with four other ND football players (Te'Von Coney, Floyd "Max" Redfield, Ashton White and Dexter Williams) were pulled over by Indiana State Police. The officer found a loaded handgun and a "significant" amount of marijuana in the car.

In March, Stepherson entered a plea to have his charges removed as long as he could stay out of trouble for one year. On Thursday, the court accepted that plea.

Stepherson will join the same sentencing of his three other teammates who were caught.

For one year, Kevin will be on probation, submitting urine samples as well as avoiding alcohol consumption and illicit drug use. He will also be required to participate in the Court's Drug and Alcohol program.

As long as he can stay clean and out of trouble for one year, the charges will be dropped.

Kind of weird. The one year starts now? How about the last 10 months?

Loaded handgun and a significant amount of weed. Just to type that out in the same story line with Notre Dame football players causes me great disappointment. IMHO, that's way beyond Animal House pranks and fun.

That's how it always works.

You go through the legal process, you are obviously innocent until proven guilty, so he is just like the rest of us the past 10 months.

Then when the court accepts the plea (which they can deny & it starts all over again) you get sentenced. That's when it starts.

Yeah, his probation will subject him to specific conditions which he hasn't been subject to thus far - ie. court supervised random drug testing. Its not like he was spending his time in jail await trial.

I agree. I shake my head every time I see someone on here saying something negative about another coach like Stoops.

It's almost like some fans and alums don't even look in the mirror when it comes to all the crap that has happened at ND under the Kelly regime. It's something every year with this team. You never heard any of this type of stuff under Weis. What will it be in 2017?

There are many degrees of malfeasance, and every one of them is different. Stoops is not a player, Stoops is part of management/adminstration. Do you think there are many similarities between how Stoops handles malfeasance and how ND handles it? Do you think you ever would have heard of the frozen five at Oklahoma? Do you think Joe Mixon would have ever set foot in an ND classroom?

This is laughable. Like the other poster said, the way ND handles things is what matters. And Weis had a guy he recruited & brought in named Michael Floyd. I guess it's his fault Floyd is an alcoholic?

You don't like Kelly. That's it. No matter what happens you will find a way to tie it back to him, which makes you & every point you make pointless because there is always an alternative motive...your hatred for Kelly.

P.S. You should read about some of the "legends" in Notre Dame history. Start with George Gipp. I guess Knute Rockne had no control of his program at ND either?

He's a college kid: no alcohol for a year? Might be the last we've seen of KS. I sure hope he can keep it together.

Well said. Stoops decided at the end that he would win at all costs.
