Kelly's New Numbering System

not to fret. kelly is clearly smarter than you when it comes to football and running his program. the players themselves understand what he is doing. nothing idiotic about it. let kelly do what he does best. coaching and administrating his program. you should stick to what you do best, hating and being uneducated about the game of football.

Yep, going for 2 when we need one on multiple occasions is brilliant. Having a QB throw an int when we needed a FG for a win and had a kicker that hadn't missed was super intelligent. "But on a second-and-8 from the Tulsa 19, instead of trying to get in position for a field goal, Rees lofted a pass toward the corner of the end zone for Floyd and Flanders picked it off." We were in game 9 and Ruffer hadn't missed for the season. Starting a season with 12 men on the field is genius. Taking 6 years to figure out how to get plays in is very astute. Overseeing a defense that's harder to learn than Chinese is masterful. It's like watching clowns hop out of a car at a circus. He probably leads the NCAA these last 6 years for burning time outs due to disorganization and folks not knowing what is going on. Those closing 15 seconds versus Stanford further cemented his inept reputation. I could go on and on, but as of right now kelly's biggest bowl win is the Music City Bowl.

Perhaps you can answer this: How's dopey going to work his idiotic merit system around this?

SECTION 1. General Provisions

The Game

2. At the snap, at least five players wearing jerseys numbered 50 through 79 are on the offensive scrimmage line and no more than four players are in the backfield (Rules 2-21-2, 2-27-4 and 7-1-4-a) (Exception: Rule 7-1-4-a-5) (A.R. 7-1-4-IV-VI).

Exception:

5. In a scrimmage kick formation at the snap (Rule 2-16-10) Team A may have fewer than five linemen numbered 50-79, subject to the following conditions:

(a) Any and all linemen not numbered 50-79 who are ineligible receiver(s) by position become exceptions to the numbering rule when the snapper is established.

wow are you dumb. competitions among position groups has been going on for years everywhere. kelly has put a new twist on common practices. you are making a mountain out of a mole hill based on nothing but your dislike for the coach. everyone knows the linemen number restrictions. give up your old act. sad and pathetic.

Yep, coaches that set up a team merit system that excludes a position group are extraordinarily brilliant.
kelly would make a good Mr. Potato Head character and that's about it.
I'd bet a lot of money he forgot about the rule.
PS I think I'm sensing some 'roid rage here....

Writing this falsehood clearly makes you feel better because you, like many here, weren't smart enough to get in. Seriously, one poor guy admitted that his parents went to ND. Can you imagine their disappointment when their child couldn't get in because they raised a dunce?
PS I spent 3 years in Dillon and one at 713 Notre Dame Avenue..... We lived up the street from a funeral home. The SMC chicks loved that we always had flowers.... I'm happy to see that the board perve agrees with you. You're in good company.
Like I said you never went to ND. You most likely could not even find ND on map.

again, you just don't understand the game. those linemen understand completely. you are so pathetic and sad. guaranteed the linemen have their own competitions amongst their group. if harbaugh was doing this you would be praising him. give it up.

roid rage ? from my experimenting in the late 80's ? wow ! another subject you have absolutely no knowledge about. is there any subject you are educated on ? doesn't seem to be.

The reason Harbaugh/others aren't doing it is because they are not football idiots.

Nah, you and your little lower tier Mensa society of coaches just will never get it. It's interesting that you never reference the facts that I write. Have a peek at the osu game day thread. You'll see how I suggested an attack on osu's D which kelly then followed to the letter.... PS A guy shoving needles into his arm as he tries to elevate his game by cheating is truly pathetic. You shouldn't be around kids ever. Now tell me how you were just popping pills....

SPAAAAANK!

The troll loses any points however as he attempts to take credit for game time decisions by the head coach of Notre Dame. This during a major televised college bowl game. I have heard of trolls communicating with David Letterman and Jay Leno. Also Johnny Carson years ago. Now we have a delusional troll communicating through his TV set to Brian Kelly. Credit for the spank withdrawn.

nope. never did the needle. many others did. i shouldn't be around kids, why ? i talk to them all the time about my experiences with steroids. steroids, another subject you clearly don't understand. you are a sad and pathetic man who tries to deflect his obvious lack of knowledge about most things with insults and anger. again, sad and pathetic.

The silly thing is that if an offensive lineman has the best week of practice on and off the field that would otherwise earn the #1 jersey, then common sense says that nobody wears the #1 jersey that week. Seems to me that's the incentive for the offense linemen - keep #1 off the field. And then the gameday story will be "Nobody's wearing the #1 jersey for Notre Dame this week because of the outstanding week of practice by . . ." as the game camera moves to a close up of the appropriate offensive lineman.

Its Notre Dame Football. High achieving players get plenty of attention. If an offensive lineman has the best week of practice, we'll be sick of looking at their ugly mug by the end of that week's game.

winner, winner. common sense prevails ! he is so blinded by hate that the obvious eludes him. like i had posted earlier competitions among position groups is very commonplace. nothing new here other than the continued hate of the head coach by one specific ill poster.

Yay, your reward is you don't get to participate.... silly indeed....

Sure it's true..... the rules prohibit the reward from being used on the field by O linemen....
you never tire of making yourself look silly do you ? it's not about the jersey ! it's about the competition. o linemen know full well they can't wear the number. think they care ? everyone but you understands it. think LeBron james cares if being named finals mvp came with a trophy ?

Yeah, Lebron cared....he was
carrying the trophy for days after he won it. When Curry/ others come to his house it will be a centerpiece....

How is it you are right on everything and everyone else is wrong?

not to agree with CGVR in almost anyway, but

Fans don't own the teams and one fan does not have dominion over membership. How does one come to the conclusion that 'you can't be a fan of "my team". > We are not BORG <

"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"

I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm drivin' in my car
And that man comes on the radio
And he's tellin' me more and more
About some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination
I can't get no, oh no no no
Hey hey hey, that's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm watchin' my TV
And that man comes on to tell me
How white my shirts can be
But he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarrettes as me

I can't get no, oh no no no
Hey hey hey, that's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no girl reaction
Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm ridin' round the world
And I'm doin' this and I'm signing that
And I'm tryin' to make some girl
Who tells me baby better come back later next week
Cause you see I'm on losing streak
I can't get no, oh no no no
Hey hey hey, that's what I say
I can't get no, I can't get no
I can't get no satisfaction
No satisfaction, no satisfaction, no satisfaction

I hope, nor do I care to believe that this number idea is a motivational idea! The staff, the love of competition, the representation of ND, of representing yourself are the motivators; if you decide on this idea it has to be to single out an individual for recognition. The problem with that is it is a team sport and you don't promote team by promoting 1 individual; just as you do not blame a single player for a loss. This is one of those times in a meeting that a hand needed to be raised and the opinion offerred that 'a bad idea coach'!

Don't many teams, if not most teams, present game balls after each game to players who did something noteworthy?

well usually more than 1 game ball is awarded - in the locker room - the players sanctuary.
This is a much more public type of statement.

I could see awarding something like shamrocks for a sleeve or helmet; even for none playing contributions.

Bear in mind, attitudes toward this whole notion are subjective, but in the end the only opinion that matters is that of the staff.

this has been going on in position groups forever in every facet of a program. nothing wrong with the idea at all. its not the reward but the competition that truly is the goal. it happens in the weight room, the fitness testing, the written testing etc. get a clue people. maybe helmet stickers are a bad idea too at some schools.

Hopefully, it won't result in on field confusion/delay of game/ other stuff.....

PS imo The addition of off field behavior makes the process more cumbersome....
