We have seen the same thing now for the last SEVEN YEARS! Even if ND wins 10-12 games, ND will face a beat down in a major bowl/playoff. No matter how anyone on this board, tries to breakdown next seasons roster, the season will end up the same.

Kelly is what he is and will be what he is; it would seem the way to achieve a 10 W season is to structure the schedule so that only 1-2 top/elite teams are faced in a season. That gets ND into position for a beatdown. Good news/bad news situation.
Recruiting is the key predictor. It has explained how ND got where it is and where ND is headed.

Problem with this logic is that Kelly has a hard time beating non-elite teams. Look at this year's games against Texas, Dook, NC State, ... none are/were elite teams this year and how did we do?

Need to change this to 1-2 Div 1 teams, and play the remainder of our schedule against Div 2 and Div 3 teams. We'd have such a giant talent and size advantage that even with Kelly's coaching blunders it would be hard to lose.

No, recruiting is not the key predictor. Kelly is failing badly in the player development. I think his system also fails to place players in the best positions to utilize their talents. Kelly's system is faulty.

^ yep; but his defensive front seven recruiting has doomed him.

the anticipation of a huge recruiting class in '17 is now relegated to disaster recovery!
top targets have abandoned ND as a consideration and ND's staff is trying to identify prospects that are possible players from done the "C" list. Like itch scratch itch; the problem feeds/perpetuates itself now!

The only solution is a fresh face and a fresh image of ND, an image to excite recruits. And Swarbrick has stymied that possibility.

ND seems to have accepted a secondary role on college football. The Swarbrick and Kelly duo has made NF football a 'was' thing.
