Kelly couldn't see Kizer was the better QB

Zaire is good, but his skill set doesn't meld with the offense as well as kizer's

Kelly just said in the presser the decision has not been made if Kizer is the starter going forward.

That better just be some fluff answer to subdue constant questioning about Kizer/MZ.

If Kelly still has any doubts, he's an idiot.

A point you need to realize is that in practices, because Kelly lacked the leadership chutzpah to name a starting QB, practice was divided between two QB's. Therefore the starter was not getting the reps a 'starter' would normally get to prepare for a game. Then to make it worse ND benched Kizer for 3-4 series in the game! Then on the last series in reg time the play calling took the ballgame out of Kizer's hands.

And that does not even touch on the fact Kelly brought BVG back this season as DC!

Now people are going to come on this board to do damage control, and convince you to keep donating for the statue, but this game was the Crossing the Rubicon game.

I recall the SDSU game, ND won that game, but it was the game that made it impossible to see what you had as far as HC was concerned.

So, go ahead, keep making those donations

Can't blame Kelly for that but . The 1st drive in the 3rd quarter should have been Kizer not Zaire. Zaire is a great kid . Coaches build relationships with their players . How do you tell that kid he's done? He was 3-0 as a starter ..... not knock Kizer but he is now 0-3 as the QB the last 3 games . Not his fault but the game was in his hands down the stretch tonite and they did not win. He is the QB but Zaire deserved a shot to play tonite and he needs to understand he is now a play away from going in. Kizer had to wait now he does. Kizer goes pro and then he competes for the job next year with a more experienced offense. Kizer right now is the QB.

Kelly is stubborn. Malik will play vs MSU costing ND another possible victory. Kelly is comfortable given his new extension. No reason to panic and admit Kizer is better. What is ND going to do, fire him? BVG stays as well. He is Kelly's hand picked guy. No reason to admit that was a bad hire either. Kelly is in the sweet spot at ND. They have no other options. He holds all the cards.
