Every starting OL could return next year

Also, 4 of them will be eligible to leave next year to the draft

242 lbs may be too heavy. He may need to cut some weight

Pretty sure his growth has been closely monitored by the nutritional staff and S&C staff. I guess you know best though. Perhaps you should forward your concerns to the staff.
What are your thoughts on Sevillano being 343 pounds? I think about the overall health of athletes like this all the time. What is the benefit to being 340 pounds? To me, that’s just bad for overall health. The Florida Gators had a DL that was 450+ pounds.

I don’t even see the football benefit to being that big. Why don’t some of these guys cut down to something more healthy but still very big?

It just seems weird that college programs allow that. Do they simply not have that much control over it?

They can't control what a player puts in his mouth 24/7. Every player gets specific dietary instructions for what the training staff determines best fits their profile and goals. Without knowing the specific weight determined by the staff for each player I couldn't give an informed comment. That said 343 seems quite high to me. On the opposite end you have a guy like Aamil Wagner pounding 7000 to 8000 calories a day and he can't break 300. All I know for sure is weight, percentage of body fat, BMI etc, are closely monitored.

If 343 seems “…quite high…” to you, forward your concerns to the staff.

Too me. I have no concerns and fully trust the training staff. Now if the young man in question is not following the regimen prescribed for him he'll be the one to suffer the consequences. I don't know a lot about him and maybe they've determined that's an optimal weight for him. I just don't know. I gave an opinion without any factual information. I was asked a question and answered it.

But you had to make a cocky comment about Kedren Young and then you say Sevillanos weight seems quite high to you. So you can question something but others can't.

Just for discussion purposes. I’m not telling the staff anything btw.
I like sevillano at 345 and love Dixion at 330 right next to each other on 3rd and short.
Just my opinion. I feel we have such good depth at DL they fit the space eater mold perfectly. We got 280 lb quick twitch DT. Having those 2 over 330 fills that undersize issue we’ve had in the past. Jmo

Yea well, coaches and training staff could make mistakes. I remember after the 2012 BCS championship game Brian Kelly mentioned how much bigger the Alabama lines were, and all of a sudden Nix came in the following season weighing 30+ pounds heavier, and ended up getting injured and was lost for the last half of the season.

As the article said he is 242 and absolutely chiseled…. Something tells me that when we have a short yardage situation and he lines back there ready to explode there won’t be anymore doubters

That's quite a reach. Do you know for a fact that the injury was directly related to weight gain ? One isolated incident in 12 years is hardly reliable data in which to make definitive conclusions.

Our RB room is overrated IMO

Jeremiyah Love is a star the other handful of guys are pretty ordinary though
Now you're trolling. This RB rooms is loaded. Top-3 room in the country. We don't have enough touches for Price and Williams.....and on top of that, Young is ready to play and emerge.

Without Love, this is still a playoff caliber room,

You're being nuts (again).

Hook, Line, Sinker.

That's one I remember off the top of my head. Have I done in depth analysis on this? No, and I don't plan to. Even if I had access to the data/information, I wouldn't do it.

I can flip the script as well, how do you know it wasn't related? How do you know all of the injuries ND suffered on the defensive and offensive lines last season weren't directly related to training and nutrition? You can't.

You're right we don't know. The question was whether a specific player might be too heavy. Many fans are quick to blame the training staff whenever an injury occurs. Guessing most if not all of them never played the game. Injuries unfortunately are a common part of it. No team anywhere is immune to them.

you can't say this after your statement on young that you're sure he's closely monitored by S&C staff because 242 is quite high for a RB of Young's Height.

I agree with your premise. They are given strict plans, but it doesn't mean they follow them. I have no clue on young or Sev. Sev is at a position to me where they may be good with that weight and want him in a more short yardage type role (limited snaps). Maybe same with young? But I gotta believe there's no way young at 242 has maintained his explosiveness with speed/quickness.

Jer Love is the best back in the country. Jd Price will be drafted next year. And the rest of the room is really solid

Best rb room in the country
Gotta do it in the big games. Our running game (for a multitude of reasons) at the RB spot was pretty bad (other than 1 run) in the 4 playoff games.

Now, i do think we can and should be the best backfield in the country, but penn state has an argument to be made. Hopefully we prove it on the field.

Correct. Stretching and hydration are also critical and two very hard components for the S&C to monitor/control.

They have an argument. But they would be number 2. The rbs weren't bad, they just didn't have holes to run through. Our OL was beat up and getting beat

Sure I can. He's reportedly ripped and in peak physical condition. If they didn't like his weight there's no way he'd be there. You know as well as I do how it works. As far as Sev goes unless we know what profile they set for him I'd imagine he's around where they want him to be. My initial response was given based on the face value of the number and not being privy to his profile. We shall see.

For the LOVE of GOD just stop posting. This is as bad a take as I've ever seen on any board anywhere about any topic over the last 25 years. At this point no one should ever respond to another post from you ever! Last time for me. Finally when ND wins the NC and it will be very soon, don't come on here and post a ****ing thing! 🍀

Reports are just that… if he’s ripped, explosive, and 242… he will have a true role game one (Not end of game when it’s over role)
