Team played really well out of conference but started ACC play 4-14. Rather than roll over, they just won 8 of 9 in conference. At 12-15 in conference, and RPI at 48, last 6 will be fun to watch. 3 against Bowling Green (two at home) and then 3 big ones in Coral Gables. Tournament is all 15 teams in single elimination with byes for better teams (think basketball format) at Durham Bulls stadium. Really cool that this team didn't quit. Sophomore catcher is one of better players in the national. Go Irish!

Need to win the ACC tourney, or at least get to the final, to have a shot at NCAA.

Baseball America projects Irish as 2nd Team out. So next 7 games plus tournament (starting tonight) very meaningful. Probably need to win six more, including ACC tournament games.

Realtime RPI up to 47.
6 left plus ACC tourney.
Probably need 5 more wins (total)

It was indeed. Some great pitching and defense particularly in left field. RPI at 45 and (before last night) they were BaseballAmerica's first team out. Another big one tonight!

Big win today to take Miami series away. Conventional wisdom was that was what was required to make field. RPI now 42 and team is white hot. Plus Tinney is a superstar. But a couple of tournament wins would certainly help. First game Stanford or BC and then Duke or Virginia. Go Irish!

First round is BC.

When you are under .500 and outside the top 8 in the ACC, there is no conventional wisdom.

You need to beat BC and win the next game in the tourney.

Is it you or we. I’m confused

RPI up to 40 and 7 quad one wins are going to be really helpful. We have better metrics than any team in last 4 in. The Committee will look to Baseball America and they will almost certainly have us in. Still, the losing conference record is a negative and we have been screwed before so would love it if we beat BC on Tuesday.

ON3 (as of Sunday) has Irish in on last projection (not in last 4 in). On the other hand Tim Prister appears to have rejected possibility out of hand on X responding to question on the candidacy: "they are the 11th placed team in ACC." Dig a little deeper Tim. Top 40 RPI, ELO 31, 16 of last 19, and better quad 1 and 2 records then any bubble teams. With friends like Tim, Irish Baseball doesn't need enemies....

62nd team on D1 Baseballs final regular season projection.

From baseball America on Monday:
Notre Dame
(32-20, 14-16; RPI: 40; SOS: 46)
We said last week that a Notre Dame series win at Miami would likely be enough to push it into the Field of 64, as it would punctuate an excellent final six weeks of the regular season. Notre Dame did exactly that to improve to No. 40 in RPI and secure critical 13th and 14th conference wins. As BA sees it, Notre Dame is currently on the right side of the bubble with an opportunity to snatch up a lot more certainty in the ACC Tournament

That BC loss really was a heart breaker, RPI now 47 and while we have a chance, IMHO, it's around 25%. Still great resilience this year by the boys!

Tough loss to BC. The game didnt start until 10:30, but still ND left so many runners on base and had their chances late. Might get bounced from tourny now.

I just got back from Spain and staying up until 10:00 is tough enough. Bad news to wake up to.

Back up to 44 with BC win over Virginia. If BC can beat Carolina (huge if) it will give us another mini boost. Conference upsets also a concern. Baseball America had us today as last team in but so many many bid stealers still stalking.
