..and underage. Will be interesting to see how little time he misses. 2 weeks would be my guess. Bye week and Minnesota. Back for the big games.

I am sure old urbie will come down real hard. Probably won't get to play the first snap next week. Might even make him go to class all week. Scary.

For those saying the punishment isn't hard enough or won't be hard enough, what should the punishment be?

Kids make dumb mistakes, that's what kids do. ND has had their own. The difference is that at ND, the kid is gone for the year, no ands, ifs, or buts and they usually learn a hard lesson. At schools like Ohio State this kid will be out one, maybe two weeks, and no pudding at the training table. Actually, I'm surprised that this kid even got arrested. It must have not been in Cbus and the police didn't know who he was. The cops there are notorious for covering up for the players.

Well that's not true at all. He got popped at checkpoint by Columbus PD on his way back to campus. ND doesn't suspend players for the whole year because of alcohol. If you don't think 1-2 years is enough do you think it should be the whole year?

make him get drunk at halftime on the 50 yrd line National TV and then have him do sobriety tests administered by the P.D so kids can see the cause n results. Get him sick drunk and no bathroom privledges- let him throw up on himself and piss his pants- then let him play!

My dad did that to me once in highschool wheb he caught me coming home from a baseball party drunk. Woke me up the next morning and started me off and got me so sick I didn't drink again until college

Didn't golson get booted out of school for cheating on a test? A dui is far worse. Can't remember if nd had had one of those. Let alone an underage one.

Should miss 2-4 games.

If we remember ND as of late has been more lenient. Floyd was busted I believe in the summer for DWI and I think he sat out the first 2 games.

But that gaurd got caught smoking weed and he was kicked out for the year as was yeatman for his second alcohol offense.

Disagree... being a liar is worse then making a lapse in judent

The bigger news IMO is that he was driving a free dealer car. On a "unlimited test drive". If this is something that is unavailable to your average 20 year old, the NCAA should view this as a disallowed benefit.

Rumors are around that cardale Jones fed/ bought JT drinks and "set him up". JT was driving and saw a Columbus PD checkpoint, turned around to avoid it and was caught. Carale then came to get JT released into his custody. If true, Coach Meyer has a decision to make, sit Cardale tooo, and start Braxton Miller for the Minnesota game?
GOOO IRISH cage the Owls, 49 - 10.

Huh? Read below...plus, Rees missed going to Dublin for kicking a cop while sauced..... calabrese missed the same and he just threatened the cops with physical harm from his people....

"The school's disciplinary arm chose not to suspend Floyd -- even though it was his third alcohol-related brush with the law in two years. Kelly had suspended him a short time after his arrest. He missed spring practice, but Kelly allowed him to participate in voluntary workouts with the Irish this summer."

Is that Explorer with dealer plates "rumor/story" getting traction?

I'll say this. The Floyd situation was different because sadly Floyd admitted to being an alcoholic. Nd did the right thing. Got him counseling. AA. Etc. hasn't had a drink since.

It was a good example of case by case basis. Looking at facts and being fair.

But nd has a long history of kicking kids out for first time infractions. Golson and others last year for cheating, the basketball gaurd a few years back for weed, yeatman for open container, and rice missed a semester for having a girl in his dorm past midnight. And I could go on and on with ex.

Seriously? What happened to Will Yeatman when he decided to joy ride on campus while hammered?

Since you asked ..... was busted driving a golf cart on campus not during the football season. Not a car. He was put on probation by school. Not allowed in spring ball or any football activity and suspended from the lacrosse team for the year. The next year he was busted at an off campus party. The kid blew a .02. He was kicked off the team for the entire season. 10 games left.

Seems legit punishment. You disagree?

"Will Yeatman agreed to a plea of guilty in connection with a DUI and reckless driving. The drunken driving charge carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail while the reckless driving charge carries a penalty of 60 days in jail.

Yeatman was accused of driving a car on a campus sidewalk. He tested at 0.11 at the time of his arrest. The legal limit is 0.08.

The plea agreement calls for Yeatman to have an ignition interlock system that will not allow him to operate his car if he has been drinking. He also must attend a session where family members of victims of drunk driving talk about how their future was altered due to drunk driving. If Yeatman follows the rules, the prosecutor's office will not bring further charges nor penalties.

Yeatman is suspended from both the lacrosse team and football squad."

Well his father (and the nd lax coach) who I know well tells a different story. Swears to this day it was a golf cart. And they classified it as a "car".

I can find tons of articles that specifically indicate it was a golf cart. Like this one.

But regardless. Let's just say it was a car. Punishment seems fair. And harsh. Which is the part that you are debating. Missed all of lax season. Helluva a lax player. Doubt OSU will do the same.

I think you meant one or two weeks. Yes, kids at ND who get a DUI are usually suspended for the year. Remember our star receiver Floyd? Out for the year and he wasn't even on campus. Heck, NFL players get worse punishment for DUI's, and they are of drinking age. Same ol, same ol, at Ohio State.

For those getting on him too much.

Let's not forget Floyd.
Like I said, Kids make mistakes even here at ND. The difference is if a player here gets a DUI, he's gone for the season. At OSU, one game! Also Floyd had to do community service and had a curfew. Not imposed by the courts, but ND. He served in my mothers nursing home that entire summer and had to be in by 9 p.m. That's called learning a lesson. Not so much under Urban.

I meant weeks correct. Floyd didn't miss a game bc of alcohol citations. Only games he missed were because of injury

These incidents did not happen during the football seasons either. Floyd had an issue, but citing consumption as a minor while in college to support your argument? Really?

For those wanting JT Barret to get a real punishment it was announced they have taken away his scholarship for at least a semester. Will have to earn it back...

Nope... Suspended at least one game, loss his scholarship for the semester and will have to earn it back. UM didn't say if that was all.
