Jordan Genmark-Heath - Commits to ND

6'2, 205.

Could be a 6'3 230lb monster in 2 years....

Really good player and athlete, bit he's not 6'2. He's about 6'0.5 and really well put together. One heck an athlete, and he's still learning football.

Long term I see him as a 6'1, 215lb strong safety who is physical and can run. Important addition to the class. ND needs long, athletes yo fill out the secondary in this scheme. Losing out on Adebo is painful, but this helps. As would the addition of 6'2, Owusu and Russ Yeast, who is shorter, but dynamic athlete.

IIO...agree. He was recruited as a safety and that's where he'll play as long as his measurables remain mostly as they are today. By all accounts, a really good young man off the field, and a big hitter on. As we exchanged previously, I like the fact he is fairly raw and hasn't played football here in the States very long, and yet rose to three star status, etc... I think this kid has a huge upside, and we desperately needed a commit from one of our targets to get some momentum, and we desperately needed another DB in the class.

He's a four star safety on 247 rating system.

Welcome to ND!!! IMO right now ND just needs really GOOD players regardless of size & stars.....you know like those guys at NAVY! After we win a few Bowl games we can go after BAMA recruits.

Just GET BETTER....please?

Heath, Owusu and Yeast would be a nice recovery from losing Werner, Hicks and Adebo.

The change to the 4-2-5 base elevated the need to get Heath and hopefully Osuwu to play Rover.

I would have enjoyed Werner because of his length but we didn't need 2 inside LBs this class apparently as demonstrated by our backing away from Simmons and Brooks. We needed a few oversized safeties. White and Adams are the LBs though I am a little worried about Adams' need for shoulder labrum surgery. That knocks him out for at least a year. He should have had the surgery by now in my mind.

Losing Adebo hurts. We have Watkins, White, Coleman, Crawford, Vaughn, Pride and Love now. Needed two more because Crawford and Watkins are coming off of season ending injuries. Yeast is a big need. He wouldn't help next year though. He has not played defense in a year.

So are we happy that a 3-star guy committed while we are in turmoil? Because we need 4-5 star talent to compete. Or is this a hold on for dear life with Kelly?

Yes. I like his tape. I think as 247 has him listed as a four star safety I would have to agree with them.

Instead of judging on the recruiting services current rankings, I'd like to know where he was in the pecking order of recruits ND wanted. Was he in group A, first group, top of our list, must get. Was he in group B? C? D? or Last resort when all else was exhausted, need to fill out the class.

ND needs to get a DE; even if he is only a practice player! They need to be able to have enough healthy bodies just to practice!

lmao: remember 'continuously' with his 'Stanford reloads but ND rebuilds' lies?
the guy was finally right! 8th season in and this is where the program stands!

Beggers cant be choosers. 4-8 teams get leftovers and make the best of them. ND is not contending for a NC any time soon. First need to beat Duke and NC State.

A lot of people seem to be assuming that JGH must be a scrub because he's a plan B guy. Yes, he's a plan B recruit but he's also a very solid player IMO. Check out his highlight video if you have doubts:

He's solidly built, reacts well to the ball, is a good fundamental tackler, and appears to be a thumper. His video and the fact he is labeled as an athlete by multiple services shows he can be used on offense or defense. I don't think 247's 4-star rating is off base. After looking at his video what isn't there to like?

If Shaun Crawford can stay healthy he is going to be a SUPER STAR !!!

I'm not worried about the plan B stuff. Plan A for this defensive class was VanGorder's.

I'd be interested to know who was on Elko's radar for this season's class.

well Elko was recruiting for WF till recently and till '17 ND was shopping in a different aisle.
Elko, did refuse to try to 'poach' the WF commits (there was a DE that given ND's situation would get consideration).

If you do not recognize Plan A or B or....; You will definitely have excessive expectations for the next couple seasons. The group ND was recruiting 8 months ago is vastly different in talent than the current targets.

^ so? this is not Julio Jones! ND CB's have had sooo many guys to ND it is clear attempt to keep interest and subscriptions alive. Just as the ND staff is scrammbling, so to are the site mods to generate interest.

(I mentioned, posters liked this kid, no?)

It would be disappointing, but not really that shocking if Heath turns out to be the only late target to sign with us. All these guys have established relationships with the teams that were recruiting them long before ND, and add last season's performance and Kelly's perceived hot seat status, and that's a tough hill to climb. Still hoping we get a couple of those we are targeting, but we may have to make do with a small class, which won't hurt us next year, but will put a lot of pressure to get some kids that will make an immediate impact in the next class.

I'd like to know who was on Elko's radar going into this recruiting season because I'd like to have an indication of how successful he has been at identifying and chasing his own targets.

Additionally where he focused his radar sheds light on where's he built relationships upon which he will build at Notre Dame. We didn't execute 2017's Plan A very well. So at this point, I'm more interested in Plan A for 2018 and on.

I appreciate your concern about helping me avoid disappointment, but decades of being an Notre Dame fan have helped me develop tools for coping with disappointment. I've become quite adept. So I don't need to abandon all hope or have my expectations managed.

What I need is a coaching staff that can execute a recruiting plan at a high level by successfully reeling in targeted recruits in areas of need. Do you how Elko did was doing at executing Wake Forest's Plan A compared to expectations and needs this year?

Well, what i see is a class at WF that is 3star populated; and with DE! yes, a DE! I would guess that that is the type talent generally & realistically targeted at Wake. What we do know is the puts in far more recruiting effort than BVG and apparently is better recieved by prospects.

unfortunately, the guy seems to have scrupples! he has not poached.

?... who gets Amosa's last visit? he would be a real late session gem of a get for Elko!
UW and USC are the others getting consideration; both W.C. for a Hawaii kid.

I'm confused.. First you try to strike fear in the ND faithful that multiple 247 guys have put in CB's for him to MSU, claiming many here thought he was a good player.

Now I call you out that one guy put in a CB and you come with , he isn't very good aka the best receiver in football. Then you add the crystal balls are always wrong when pointing to ND. So when a CB goes in for ND, it's to generate a following and the kid is only a 3 star but one CB goes in and everybody here wanted him and ND can't even beat Navy for a recruit!

Clown.

Purse hates whenever something good happens to Notre Dame.
