National championship game is on MLK day. Freeman- fitting name- is 1st black college coach to possibly win the National Championship. MLK was born in Atlanta.
Hesburgh knew King personally. It's meant to be. It would be a perfect way to celebrate MLK's birthday.

Yeah, well it’s also inauguration day and Vance is a an Ohio State grad so not sure what any of it signifies

I think you are missing the point. He could be 10% black and it would still be recognized. It's about organizations giving non white people equal opportunities and leadership roles. That is what is being acknowledged and celebrated. It's not about 100%, 50% etc. Freeman deflects a lot of it because he is more into the human spirit and the individual values not the race aspect. He is a great Catholic and Christian man. An inspiration. A true leader.

Huh? Non-white also means a plethora of other races..including Korean. One has to ask why the black narrative is so loud and not a word about his Asian ethnicity

Not Really. There are a lot of black athletes but not a lot of black coaches so making in roads is important. How many Asian dudes do you see playing football?

Well stated. Tiger Woods is half Asian.

But is considered primarily Black by many. Same with Coach Freeman.
