James Laurinaitis will start his coaching career by joining his former Ohio State teammate's staff at Notre Dame. Irish head coach Marcus Freeman and Laurinaitis started alongside each for three seasons at Buckeye linebackers (2006-08).
Laurinaitis played eight seasons in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams (2009-15) and New Orleans Saints (2016). After his playing career, Laurinaitis has worked in media with the Big Ten Network as a college football analyst and co-hosted the weekday "Bishop and Laurinaitis" show for 97.1 FM The Fan in Columbus, Ohio.
Laurinaitis is expected to fill a support staff role for Notre Dame.
