Is he going to be Alabama's quarterback for the next 3 years? After Alabama scored first 14 points with their running game , Clemson went out to stop the run and the side line passes and didn't respect Hurts' passing ability . Hurts had 1or 2 significant passes but it seemed that was it .

It also seemed Saban was relying on Alabama defense to make plays .

Wondering how much of a difference replacing Kiffin with Sarkesian made ?

Will ND ever return to being a top 10 program . Just hoping

Bo Scarborough injury was the difference....
tough break for Bama.

You can guarantee Alabama will have a better QB than Hurts by next year unless he really works on his passing.......I was kind of comparing him to Tony Rice as I watched him. Both weren't the tallest QBs, they could be really bad on a lot of their throws but when they needed a good play, they had that ability to make it although I think Tony Rice was the better runner. Tony Rice is one of my all-time favorite players.

Hurts is only 18 ...he certainly has time to develop......cool as a cucumber! Rice was a special guy - fully agree!

Thought the announcer made a fool of himself annointing Hurts a legend when he made that late TD run, and thought the many posters here singing his praises when he had less than fifty yards passing midway in the third qtr were buying into the cool cucumber hype, and ignoring his actual performance. He's a gifted runner, and a poor thrower at this point in his career.

I knew Alabama had a very good QB ready to take over next year but we'll see if Hurts stays as starter because right now the jury's out on him. This game had to be hard for Saban to watch when even an average throwing QB wins this game for them especially once they lost Scarborough. Hurts had receivers open all game that could have helped extend drives but his passes were either being deflected, behind receivers or in the ground.

Well, he did beat out Barnett this year so he showed something in practices as well as leading the team to the championship game. He did many things right.

I never said he wasn't their best option at QB but he needs to become a better passer to complete his game. He's a freshman so he has the time to refine his passing skills.

Bama didn't lose yesterday because of Halen Hurts they lost because of their vaunted defense gave up 500 plus yards of offense.

Hurts will start next season. Don't be silly. He can get much better. As competition got better his inexperience showed especially not seeing open guys and inaccurate throws, but he is a great player with 15 games under his belt.

Hurts couldn't make plays ,first downs ,which would help Alabamas tired defense . Clemson rolled up big yardage , 500 yards ,but the Alabama offense couldn't bail the Tide out . Second guessing why one team won and the other lost is always a great way to justify one's opinion.

That Clemson offense would have put up over 800 yards on our D last year.

Bama's offense was 2/15 on third down, and Bama punted 11 times!!!! And their offense had seven non-scoring possessions in a row in the middle of the game, and that was with Bo Scarborough playing. The reason that Bama's defense was dead men walking in the 4th quarter was Clemson running over 100 plays, and the reason Clemson could do that was Bama's inept offense.

The offense still scored 31 points. Both defenses were on the field a lot. Bama won pretty much all year on the back of it's defense and creating turnovers mostly pick 6 plays and great special team plays. They didn't get any easy scores throughout the game and that was the difference.

Considering Bama's best back was out, and it was on the freshmen QB shoulders I would think he did well and will learn from this experience

Hurts was bad. Like a previous poster mentioned, Bama should've scored in the 50s. He missed a bunch of open WRs. He's a typical running QB. Can make some throws here & there but would be an awful qb w/o his running abilities. As is, he may be enough for a juggernaut like bama, where the roster is loaded everywhere else, but he's no true qb. I'm glad he sucked though. F@:k Alabama!

The weakest part of the Alabama offense ,Hurts didn't make the plays when it counted . Yes ,the vaunted Alabama defense caved which was surprising because they are 2 and 3 deep with 4-5 star athletes on defense . On offense the loss of their premier running back hurt their attack and Saban likes to run the ball and control the clock .

Getting back to Hurts , he would have trouble starting for a lot of the top college programs. How much he improves in the passing is a question.

He QB a team as a freshman to an undefeated season yah he sucks.
Clemson caught the right breaks at he right time, and Clemson was no slouch on either side of the ball as well

Hurts will not be the Bama QB next season.

He is inaccurate as all get out. Saban loves power I football. He needs a passer very accurate throwing out of play action.

Everytime Bama tries to use a semi mobile QB while running power football they've finished the year with a loss. That's fact.

The kid was one pick play from an undefeated season. WTF are you talking about. Hurts starts against FloridaSt. next season and the rest of the season unless he gets injured.

Every single time Bama has tried using a running type of QB they lost their final game.
That is a fact.

Moreover they did a great job of putting him in spots to succeed something BK could really take notes from. But what he does have a hard time with is high risk accuracy needed passing.

So you can call it crazy ...I'm just telling you facts and Saban likes to win.
