Jakobe Clapper Commits!

When your program is a trendy destination at a position group like linebacker is at ND right now, the recruiting ratings don't really mean much. ND could get almost any top 100 guy at LB they want right now so when they take a #400 overall guy like Clapper you can be pretty certain the staff is WAAAAY higher on him than the recruiting industry presently is and NDs defensive staff has earned the benefit of the doubt.

Its at the other positions that aren't at that same level when you miss out on top targets and start taking lower rated guys (3 & low 4 star) just to get warm bodies at the position is when things start to go south real quick.

Our recruiting at most positions is like that. OL, RB, DB, LB

WR is the only real concern. We have talented depth everywhere on the roster and even WR has solid talent

"solid talent" doesn't win national titles.
the best talent does. the #1 talent does. the #1 roster does.

ND has that kind of talent at OL & LB and an argument could be made for CB if Cree Thomas lives up to spring hype.

They don't have that kind of talent anywhere else on the roster though. And their OL & LBs aren't so far ahead enough to make up for what they lack at other position groups.

winning #2-#12 place in the playoff means NOTHING ZERO ZILCH in college football being the #1 team means everything. It's an all or nothing do or die battle for the #1 spot after 16ish games for programs with NDs brand/money/prestige. ND is not equipped talent-wise to compete for that spot and they haven't been since the Holtz era. WAKE UP! HOW MANY MORE TITLE-LESS DECADES OF 10TH RANKED TALENT AND 10TH RANKED RECRUITING CLASSES DO YOU NEED TO SEE?

Yeah, I said solid talent at only 1 position. Everywhere else is loaded. When you leave RB and DB off that list it just proves how little you follow the team and you can only troll. Bad attempt

You CB comment is beyond stupid. We don't need Cree Thomas to be anything. Although I said he was grossly underrated coming out of HS and you only cared about his ranking. But not surprised at all that he is doing so well. It was obvious from tape. But he's the 6th most talented corner on the roster. Although that's not bad considering how loaded the position is.

Being in the mix every year matters. A lot. Winning allows you to create a culture and attracts recruits and coaches like a Jajuan Seider who is one of the best RB coaches in the country yet left one of the best teams in the country. It helps you keep a Mike Mickens who is the best Secondary coach in the country. It helps you land studs like Dunham and Ewetade and Osborne later today.

Really really bad argument by you there

chase his balls is sad

if there are not numbers involved he panics

not that it takes much to panic him

since heart and soul and fire and instinct have no numbers he will always be a day late and a dollar short

look at Alabama: according to him, they should easily win the NC every single year

they did not come close

other teams beat them; virtually every year some weaker team beat them in the regular season

if chase was right that should never happen let alone in the playoffs

With the way that idiot thinks, games are simply won on paper. Why even play at that point?

He knows so little about football, but that's not a suprise since he was probably on the debate team and only made JV at that.
