No one said there would never be a settlement, in fact most agree there will be settlements to avoid a trial.

Now, he will also settle and the Feds will still go after FSU.

SAL is correct on this. He, cgmr, and most of the noles all maintained that the victim was only trying to deceive the public by making these accusations. According to SAL, cgmr and the noles, the goal was always the cash payout for the victim.

This is how they think.
 
That's not correct but I appreciate you trying. My position has been it will be hard for her to win a civil suit against Winston when she has the burden of proof and she hasn't met that burden in other proceedings. I have always thought settlement was likely though as the risk for FSU and Winston is huge because even if they win a trial the potential negative publicity cost is high. Also believe you can't say you "know" Winston raped anyone especially not without a conviction.

It is kinda sad that most FSU fans really do care more about the championship than that one of their players raped a fellow FSU student. Winston will pay big and the fact that FSU settled for a record amount simply proves they didn't want to revisit the truth. Winton will settle soon.

I believe the Title IX charges to FSU deal with FSU's handling of the case after the fact, and are marginally related to whether the incident actually happened or not, or Winston's guilt or innocence. Somebody, other than Argus or his alter egos, correct me if I'm wrong.
 
You are correct. It's also the largest settlement of a title IX case related to a sexual assault investigation. Bigger settlements related to other aspects of title IX I believe
 
Of course it was FSU's handling"after the fact." They turned their back on a female student because she accused an FSU football player.

This is only about the financial settlement, the TitleIX investigation continues as dows the Civil Suit against Winston.

That's a flat out lie. I've taken my view from a distance.

However, in fact, I may have been the first one to say that winston would file a defamation suit....which he did.

I also was very critical of the attorney winston selected. However, the guy has surprised me and is doing an extremely good job. Don't think for a minute that if this goes to trial he isn't going to cross fsu on why they didn't show urgency.

Lastly, I have always maintained that if winston didn't counter there would be a settlement. (There still may be one). Right now, winston's war chest is massive.

That's a problem for the girl....

I never offered an opinion on her veracity....

Lastly, there were 2 guys present and imo their testimony is going to be key....

Speaking of defamation of character.........I find it interesting that the girls lawyers have never filed a suit for defamation especially when Winston's lawyer did a TV interview and said that the girl was "seen at parties on her knees giving oral sex to football players". One would think that would be grounds for this "sweet innocent girl" (wink, wink ;)) to file a suit. Guess the blood sucking lawyers didn't want to open that particular can of worms..........bwahahahah!

I'm still laughing at the split: $700K for the blood suckers and $250 for the girl. Only in America!

Is that correct? $700K to the attorneys??? Isn't the main one her aunt, cousin or some other relative?
 
Florida law only allows a maximum of $300,000 in a suit like this. It is the largest Title IX settlement in history. FSU will still get slammed and she will get millions from the Winston. Read something so you don't look so stupid!

It's very possible that the Glazer family would strongly prefer a quiet settlement over a high profile civil trial. That may play a role in the decision to fight or to settle. My guess is they settle quietly for a token amount, with no admission of guilt, with bi-lateral gag orders. And we'll never know and it will fade into the woodwork. Except for Argus of course, he will definitely know, with 100% confidence.

That's an excellent point about the Glazers.

I'm wondering if the civil proceedings can be closed to the public. That with gag orders may work....

For some reason I just don't see winston settling... I don't know why....

He just seems really dug in, appears to want to clear his name and has lots of $.

I agree about Winston, he appears dead set on seeing himself aquitted. But the people paying him all that money he has accumulated might want to have a say, rightly or wrongly. Civil trials are dicey, and they might not want to take the risk, however slight as they may see it, that he loses. Then they are totally screwed from a PR perspective.

That is entirely untrue. I have no.idea what happened that night. I knew that winston was going to come out blazing and he did. This defamation suit will wither that $250k in months.....

I also ripped winston's attorney David Cornwell as he is known for shenanigans. I am pretty sure he had a bodyguard flash a gun at Lloyd lake during a deposition in the reggie bush saga...
However, he is doing a solid job with Winston.....much to my surprise.....
 
Thank you argus. My guess is that her attorneys will burn through $250K in less than 6 months. Heck, they just picked up $700k..... Right now I am seeing her legal team as less than kosher....
