I will say this. The fact that Kelly continues to call draw plays with him in situations where there is no reason to is beyond me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the draw was called on a second down? At that point, ND was getting the momentum back and attempting to seize control of the game. I just don't like putting a QB in harms way needlessly. Scrambling is one thing and making plays with your feet outside the pocket is another. But designed draw plays like this will only lead to injuries. Especially this early in the season against an opponent that we should have beaten by 2 scores or more.
One more thing. Starting a backup QB from here on out is the least of our worries. The defense today was not good. If there is one thing they better get control of quickly is not having these guys so deep into the backfield that they take themselves out of plays. There was a lot of that going on today. That definitely won't fly against GT next week.
