It wouldn't be an offseason without the annual Notre Dame joining a conference rumors.

A OSU podcaster has ND joining the BIG10. Apparently the BIG10 is now playing "hardball" with ND and will force them to join or be left out. If true, wouldn't it be great if ND gave the BIG10 the finger and joined the SEC instead. Interesting watch.

If ND does join a conference and the choice comes down to the SEC or Big Ten, it will be the Big Ten.

How do you know?
It makes sense for several reasons.

1. Many of ND's long standing rivals are in the BIG10, USC, Michigan State, Purdue, and Michigan.

2. Annual trips to the west coast would still be intact with USC, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon all in the BIG10.

3. Regionally it's a fit since most teams are in the midwest

4. Academically BIG10 is a better fit than the SEC.

I understand but mcdermott is stating it as a fact. I hope ND considers the SEC and that’s what I believe to be in ND’s best interest. I prefer ACC #1 if feasible.

Edit: if ND were to be forced to join, and the ACC only has two playoff spots while the SEC has more, then I’d prefer the SEC #1.

You are correct that it is just my opinion.

Who cares what an OSU Podcaster thinks. It's meaningless

We aren't joining a conference anytime soon

If in the future the Big Ten and SEC decide to form a superconference separate from the NCAA ND would most certainly get an invitation and likely accept. The money would be record breaking. In that scenario I can see schools like Clemson, Fla St , SMU and a few others getting invited also. The current conference formats will no longer exist in 10 years in my opinion.

It wasn't the podcaster that said it, it was the person he was interviewing that said it. He also apparently called USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington to the BIG10 6 months prior to anyone else.

The podcaster is actually a tool. At one point he said OSU has higher standards than Notre Dame. 🤣
