There has never been a better opportunity in the last 20 years..it’s not our best team in that time frame by any means but the competition gap has closed. There is no dominant team. Surprised how porous Oregon’s D is upfront. Supposedly they were better than past seasons
What ND team is better than this years team ?There has never been a better opportunity in the last 20 years..it’s not our best team in that time frame by any means but the competition gap has closed.
If Riley can be that 1st round talents some pegged him as, this team should win it all. We won’t be able to rely on the running game and he will be needed to make big time throws
No idea until they play a team that is an actual top 5 team. What ND team is better than this years team ?
Define " signature " win. Are there clearly 5 top 5 teams ? I don't think so. Just because of rankings ? I watch a lot of football. ND is easily one of the best teams I've seen. I have not seen any other team that I would definitively say is better. No team stands out this year as clearly better than everyone else. I believe there are at least 6 to 8 teams that could win the whole thing. It's wide open.No idea until they play a team that is an actual top 5 team.
To this point, Notre Dame has zero signature runs. None.
I think this team is easily the deepest and most talented in 20 years across the board. ND has never had this quality of depth. They would crush the 2012 team. There has never been a better opportunity in the last 20 years..it’s not our best team in that time frame by any means but the competition gap has closed.

I disagree. I think that this is the best team in the last 20 years. Fastest team speed on defense, balanced talent on offense, and the best overall coaching (if not, best head coach, certainly best coordinators/head coach combo). There has never been a better opportunity in the last 20 years..it’s not our best team in that time frame by any means but the competition gap has closed.

For sure. Just look at the linebackers and secondary, no comparison. You had Manti but Fox and Calabrese way to slow to crack this lineup. Same on offense. Who on the 2012 offense starts on the current team ? Martin, Stanley and Eifert and that's it.I disagree. I think that this is the best team in the last 20 years. Riddick, Cave, Watt, Tuitt, Nix, Brindza, Koyack, Farley, Day, etc., etc, lots of guys on both sides of the ballFor sure. Just look at the linebackers and secondary, no comparison. Have you seen 2015’s roster? That team was way more talented, not close. For sure. Just look at the linebackers and secondary, no comparison. This is accurate, this team has played 1 ranked team, Army, and lost to NIU. I think there are 3-4 teams that were better in the last 20 years. No idea until they play a team that is an actual top 5 team.
To this point, Notre Dame has zero signature wins.
No doubt there have been upgrades in talent among the linebackers and defensive backs, but I think it is pretty obvious that our receivers are nowhere near as good as we were used to just a few years ago, and I think our kicking game has really turned into a liability (I'm hoping Jeter finds his mojo during the break before the playoffs.) Finally, our defense has been hit hard by injuries and defections. We expect Cross and KVA back, but we'll still be short five important players. For sure. I dont really agree with all your points here, but god its refreshing reading a level headed non homer take on this forum. No doubt there have been upgrades in talent among the linebackers and defensive backs, but I think it is pretty obvious that our receivers are nowhere near as good as we were used to just a few years ago, and I think our kicking game has really turned into a liability (I'm hoping Jeter finds his mojo during the break before the playoffs.) My feeling with ND is we always seem to be a day late and a dollar short. I really think this team would have had the same shot Michigan did last year, but I don't see us holding up for four playoff games.
This team hasn't been tested, one of the softer schedules in recent years, comparable to 2021. depending where they are seeded, I could have concerns from round 2 on from the offensive side of the ball. The defense will keep ND in the game, but we may need the offense to step up in a big way at some point, and that concerns me.What ND team is better than this years team ?
This is a Notre Dame fan board. What is wrong with a "homer take"? We are not CFB show talking heads trying to predict what will actually happen, we are Notre Dame fans who are hoping the Irish can bring home the trophy. Will it happen? I don't know, but the season has demonstrated there is no team without flaws, so I think we have as good a shot as anyone. You want to keep arguing why ND will not win; most of us here are hoping ND will win.I dont really agree with all your points here, but god its refreshing reading a level headed non homer take on this forum.
I think he was just saying we don't have good WRs, right? I don't even agree with that. The transfers have been good. What we lack is a good passing QB. That's our main problem in the passing game. And we're going to need more portal WRs, which I guess is less than ideal. And we need to start hitting on HS WR recruits that actually pan out. This is a Notre Dame fan board. I wasn't critiquing HDK's post, I was commenting upon chaseball's remark that he doesn't like homer takes on ND's chances.I think he was just saying we don't have good WRs, right? Top end talent. This roster is deeperHave you seen 2015’s roster? That team was way more talented, not close.
Texas A&M, Louisville, Navy and Army were all top 25 teams when they played the Irish. This is accurate, this team has played 1 ranked team, Army, and lost to NIU. I think there are 3-4 teams that were better in the last 20 years.
Texas am is ranked 26th. Louisville 27thThis is accurate, this team has played 1 ranked team, Army, and lost to NIU. I think there are 3-4 teams that were better in the last 20 years.
SMHTexas A&M, Louisville, Navy and Army were all top 25 teams when they played the Irish.
It's not where you start, it's where you finish that counts. Army only team that finished in the top 25Texas A&M, Louisville, Navy and Army were all top 25 teams when they played the Irish.
Haha no it’s not. That 2/3 deep is filled with future NFL players.Top end talent. This roster is deeper
I disagree! It's where they are ranked when the Irish played 'em!It's not where you start, it's where you finish that counts. Army only team that finished in the top 25
So if a team is ranked in the top 25 early in the season and a team beats them when they are ranked, but the ranked team ends up 6-6 or worse, sorry that doesn't count as beating a Top 25 team.I disagree! It's where they are ranked when the Irish played 'em!
This team has more depth of talentHaha no it’s not. That 2/3 deep is filled with future NFL players.
Notre Dame fall depth chart
Here is the unofficial depth chart for the Notre Dame football team as it begins training camp.www.ndinsider.com
Memphis is ranked 25 Navy beat them by double digits. Gtech beat Miami & lost in 8 ots to Georgia. Lville 3 losses were 1 score games to 3 top 10 teams and they crushed Clemson. The top 25 is subjective no one believes Memphis & UNLV are better than Tech, A&M or Louisville. So if a team is ranked in the top 25 early in the season and a team beats them when they are ranked, but the ranked team ends up 6-6 or worse, sorry that doesn't count as beating a Top 25 team.
It’s not close. This team has more depth of talent
Of the 42 players listed on the defensive depth chart, 10 got at least some NFL run with 2 players being close to or pro bowl players.
The top 42 on this defense will have much more than 10 and will have more impact guys. Defense is much more talented now
Offense I see 16 guys that got at least some NFL run or practice squad with 2 being elite and no other pro bowlers
This offensive depth chart will have around the same amount of players
That team had 26 NFL players or practice squad players on that team. This team will have at least that number but probably more
Yeah I already said. That team had 26 pros or practice squad players on it...It’s not close.

Injuries and a lot of other factors can alter teams rankingIt's not where you start, it's where you finish that counts. Army only team that finished in the top 25
3 first round picks on the OL alone (two top 10). Drafted players: Tillery (1), Nelson (1), McGlinchey (1), Stanley (1), Fuller (1), Kizer (2nd), Smith (2), Procise (2nd), Smythe (4), Tranquil (4), St Brown (6), Rochelle (7), Day (4), Dexter (6), Boykin (3). Russel (3)Yeah I already said. That team had 26 pros or practice squad players on it...
This team will have a good amount more than that
Hunter
Folston
Bryant not on chart
Carlisle

Didn't make the league
This team will have more pros on it than that team. Probably by a good margin more as well. You are right. It's not close
Then you are clearly in the Alabama deserves to be in the playoff group because they beat #2 Georgia, Ranked Missouri, and LSU.Memphis is ranked 25 Navy beat them by double digits. Gtech beat Miami & lost in 8 ots to Georgia. Lville 3 losses were 1 score games to 3 top 10 teams and they crushed Clemson. The top 25 is subjective no one believes Memphis & UNLV are better than Tech, A&M or Louisville.
Yeah I counted them all.3 first round picks on the OL alone (two top 10). Drafted players: Tillery (1), Nelson (1), McGlinchey (1), Stanley (1), Fuller (1), Kizer (2nd), Smith (2), Procise (2nd), Smythe (4), Tranquil (4), St Brown (6), Rochelle (7), Day (4), Dexter (6), Boykin (3). Russel (3)
Had plenty of undrafted guys play in the league: Cole Luke, Amir Carlisle, Mathias Farley, Alex Bars, Sam Mustipher come to mind.
But hey we got a 1st rd QB in Leonard 😂 make sure you book mark this for a 5 year resurface.
The only position group this years team is better at is arguably RB and Secondary.Yeah I counted them all.
That team had 26 NFl or practice players
This team will have more. Probably a good amount more.
It's not going to be close. You are right
Are you nuts? Linebackers and tight end are better atleast to go with rb and secondaryThe only position group this years team is better at is arguably RB and Secondary.
Let’s hear it, you can start with Leonard first rounder- what other great projections you got in store? 😂
There were no round of 12 games in 2012 when 12-0 Notre Dame and Brian Kelly played Alabama for the title.Guys who cares. This team has the ability to go deep into the playoffs. There is no one dominant team. Even UGA has weaknesses. Marcus Freeman can do in 3 years what Kelly could not in 12, and that's win a playoff game! Go Irish! ☘️
Well, he supposedly left for easier and better pastures, yet he'll be watching ND play in the playoffs. There were no round of 12 games in 2012 when 12-0 Notre Dame and Brian Kelly played Alabama for the title.
It was two teams and one title game.
Same in 2018 and 2020. The 4 team playoff didn’t allow for round of 12 games.Well, he supposedly left for easier and better pastures, yet he'll be watching ND play in the playoffs.
Yeah I counted them all.
That team had 26 NFl or practice players
This team will have more. Probably a good amount more.
It's not going to be close. You are right
Still waiting for 27… 1/3 is a decent start! And you even left off off your first round QB 😬You’re a lunatic if you’d take our current roster over the 2015 roster. This secondary got chewed up against a .500 USC team. Watts is the only guy who may give the edge to this years team. Did you forget how good Procise, Adams, Dexter, Folson were? Are you nuts? Linebackers and tight end are better atleast to go with rb and secondary
Let's just go with starters
The entire secondary will be on NFL rosters
Moore
Gray
Watts
Shuler
Clark
The starting LBs will make a roster
Bowen
Kiser
The DL will have at least 2 with a possible
Cross
Mills
Burnham poss
And that's just the starters
9 starters will be on NFL rosters from the D. And a whole shit load of the backups
You're losing it
