Is the bloom off the rose at Michigan?

Top 10- 12ish...

Without ranking specifically and just thinking of coaches i would take before BK in a vaccum

Saban
Meyer
Swinney
Shaw
Franklin
Peterson
Patterson
Fisher

BK
Dantonio
Richt
Petrino
Gundy
Harbaugh
Cryst

Are all kinda in there behind that first group

Keep in mind that Shaw has won nothing.
Patterson had won nothing.
Peterson has won a PAC12 title with a 80th ranked SOS.
Fisher has done nothing without Winston.
Franklin’s best year they lost to an under .500 Pitt, by 40 to Michigan, & to USC in the bowl.

Kelly is the ONLY coach to take two different programs to undefeated seasons (Cincy & ND). He took ND to title game & was 1 second from taking Cincy to title game. (Texas vs Neb game that Neb actually won).

A lot of that logic works against BK too. I will say for everyone who cries that Shaw has won nothing... he has won against BK more then he has lost. I am not sure how saying BK could be anywhere from 7-15 if i sat down and really thought about ranking the D1 coaches is perceived as this huge slight to BK.

Shaw will always impress a couple times a year, against ND & USC, but will NEVER run the table the way ND has to.
He has the luxury of the PAC12 title to help him along. But he will lose to SDSU, or some really bad PAC team to ruin the season. He is not capable of winning all the games, or all but one, which is mandatory at ND.

When ND plays Stanford at the end of the year Shaw isn’t playing for anything. And he probably never will.

Lets not throw rocks about losing to teams you shouldnt lose to when stanning for BK. Shaw has been to 4 elite bowls, has a better winning % at Stanford the BK has at ND, has more 10 win seasons and is 4-2 against BK... like being objective I am not sure what you are using that justifies moving BK above Shaw

I could care less.

Give me 4 seasons of 0-12 with the fifth of 12-0 over a thousand winning seasons with ZERO chance of a title.

BK has had bad losses, but also three shots at a title. Shaw has never came close to a title shot.

Hierarchy of goals imo should be:

NC
Elite Bowl win
10 wins
Wins over rivals (usc, stanford, michigan schools)
Wins over top 25/15/10/teams

Bk has played in a NC game and Shaw hasnt you are correct. That is the only thing BK has on Shaw.

Again not sure how saying Shaw is better in an objective vaccum is this big of an issue

I agree. I'd put Franklin in the B list though. He was actually on the hot seat last year.

You have become Purse Junior Esquire. Shaw and Harbaugh and Peterson and Patterson have not sniffed a National Championship.
Urban Meyer and Saban and Dabo have proved they are great coaches.

*** Don't you ever enjoy it when Notre Dame has success?. Kelly is on a roll right now. The Irish are playing their best football in ages. And you are coach shopping?? Purse !!!!!!!

I seem to recall a lot of negative posts from you after the Georgia loss -- I seem to recall you calling for Kelly to leave as well.......

I would say the bloom is off. This board was littered with UM trolls. Now you cannot find a one. We can all thank the booger man for that!

To be clear nothing here is saying i think ND should get rid of Kelly. Independent of my thoughts on that issue BK is not going anywhere next year unless he chooses to do so and based on the way the team is playing he deserves that sense of security.
